Teacher: Jeremiah
The most famous duelist of all samurai, Miyamoto Musashi fought and won over sixty duels in his life between the ages of 13 and 29. Musashi is best remembered for establishing a rare style of swordsmanship using both samurai swords, the tachi and the wakizashi, simultaneously. In his final years, he also penned a book on strategy and swordsmanship (which he viewed as deeply intertwined) called the Book of Five Rings.
This class introduces the rich life history of Miyamoto Musashi as a gateway to understanding his philosophy, which will be covered in a course coming soon by Jeremiah Bourque: tutor, writer, student of military history, and enthusiast of all things Japan, as well as a former translator of modern Japanese.
By itself, this is a one-shot class, paid via either SuperPass, or $5 prepayment through EduFire with major credit cards etc.
No prerequisites. This course is explicitly intended for those who have never heard of Musashi, those who have heard the name but few or no details,
