Undisputedly, the Bible is the most important book of both Christianity and Judaism, but there are many more ways than to read it in a dogmatic or religious or moral way. First of all it is filled with stories that inform us about social and political aspects of historical times. Secondly, the Biblical stories contain deep psychological truths about human behavior and can be helpful as a “navigation system” for our daily lives.
In this class we shall read selected stories together, analyze characters and extract meaning from their narratives, their deeds and the connection between them. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be a “believer” in any sort of way but people from all religious or atheistic backgrounds can benefit from the stories told here.
We shall learn to see how the figures are reflected in us, what each of the different figures signifies in inner terms and how to use all of them to achieve a maximum benefit for ourselves and others.
