About Class

This class will cover the pros and cons of self-publishing from the submission and editing of a manuscript all the way through the marketing process. The class will focus on U.S.-based self-publishing companies, but international students are welcome to attend. The class is 90 minutes long to allow time for the instructor to answer individual questions.

Class includes:
Discussion of pros and cons of self-publishing
Self-publishers and copyright agreements
How to prepare your manuscript for self-publishing
Add-on services
Self-publishing hidden fees
Pitfalls of self-publishing
Marketing a self-published book vs. a traditionally-published book
Suggestions of who would benefit from self-publishing
Q&A session

The course is led by an industry expert. Now a freelance writer, Tara Clapper spent several years working at both traditional and self-publishing companies. Also an author (both self-published and in traditional print) and a self-made marketing professional, she has observed the inner workings of the publishing industry from both sides. Clapper is presently pursuing a Masters in publishing.

Dave said: Under Syllabus you say "The class has one session." but the schedule and tuition is based on three classes. Can you explain?  posted over 2 years ago
