US & SHAME: A DIALOGUE

<enter US, SHAME and another character who secretly enters, hiding behind SHAME.>

US < smiling proudly & confidently>: Fuku wa uchi, Shame wa soto.
(‘Happiness in, Shame, we banish thee away from us.’…loosely translated.)

SHAME: : "How?…When??? When did you become so…Bold?!

US: Well, we went to Harsh Surana’s ‘Higher Living’ class and we were reminded of a little secret. Wanna know what it is?

SHAME: Uuuum, Yeah…

<in a very low voice someone says, “…Duh…”>

<‘US’ pretends not to hear the ‘duh’ comment…to enhance the comedic effect of our next comment>

US: See…we were reminded that you suck…you suck all of the life out of us. You and that friend of yours…you know,…Rudeness.

<SHAME & RUDENESS…speechless>

US: See, during Harsh’s ‘Higher Living’ class we were inspired to Be Bold and create a place where we all can make mistakes and still be happy, encouraging, supportive, and of course, respectful…, Rudeness. After all, being respectful is the Japanese way.

Then,…almost like magic, WE BECAME FREEE…Ahhh. It feels good. Shame, we hope that you will become free and happy. You, too, Rudeness.

SHAME: Me, too.

<‘Us’… almost speechless…yet sees this as a golden opportunity to considerately and compassionately plug our Class>

US: Shame, you don’t have to suck the life out of people. You can make people feel good. And, YOU can feel good, too. **Maybe tomorrow, okay?
