Recently, there’s been much debate about DRM. It is a technique that the entertainment industry often adopts to protect their content (music, movies, etc) in a digital environment (CDs, DVDs, Internet-based content distribution systems, portable music players, etc). At first sight those techniques might seem OK, but in practice there are serious problems with it. Customers are often not happy with DRM because it constantly conflicts with legitimate uses (allowed by copyright law) that they were used to exercise before the introduction of abusive protection mechanisms. Very often, DRM tools are invasive and raise a diverse set of issues. Users are concerned (or should be!) about privacy issues, abusive copyright enforcement, and lack of compatibility among devices which employ DRM locks.

In this talk I intend to show you in detail lots of these issues and concerns and try to explain you why I personally believe that the only acceptable solution would be to have DRM completelly removed from digital media and devices.
