In this workshop series, I will teach students how to make runes, how to cast them, and how to read them for clients. I am of Norwegian descent so I will be teaching rune casting in the traditional/ historical way as opposed to the popular culture or new age way.
Week One: Introduction – I will give a brief history of the runes and other casting methods. I will talk about the importance of the runes from a cultural perspective and their practical use in everyday life. I will also briefly discuss the proper method of casting in any form and why it is important to use casting methods to uncover hidden truths rather than tell a person’s fortune.
Week Two: Making Runes – I will teach the proper method of making the traditional Elder Futhark rune set, as well as the materials that can be used. I will also discuss the importance of the materials used (such as rocks, precious stones, gems, wood, metal, etc.) and their relationship with different spiritual aspects, moods, personalities, and other traits. In this portion we will discuss proper consecration methods, prayers/ promises to speak over the rune set as a whole and to each individual rune to increase accuracy. I will also discuss the practicality of having more than one rune set, for different purposes based on the blessings and promises that have been spoken over them.
Week Three: Rune Meanings – I will teach the meanings of the Elder Futhark runes and what their individual and collective positions mean in a rune cast.
Week Four: Rune Casting – I will teach rune casting methods that can be used with the Elder Futhark rune set. I will also discuss the use of casting cloths and rune diagrams or circles. I will briefly discuss Norse mythology and its place in rune casting, especially regarding the different supernatural realms and the energies that can be drawn from them.
Week Five: Rune Principles – I will discuss the proper use of runes and how they should be taken care of when not in use. I will also discuss anything else that has not been covered in previous weeks.
This class is for anyone who wants to learn more about rune casting and making runes.
