It’s the first of the four Chinese mandarin phonetic lessons which are designed for those complete beginners.
In this class I will introduce the four tones to you first as one of the most striking features of Mandarin is the use of tones to distinguish the meaning of syllables. There are four basic tones commonly known as the 1st (level tone), the 2nd(rising tone), the 3rd(low tone), the 4th(falling tone).

Then I will help you to learn to pronounce some initials and finals in Pinyin, compare their pronunciations with the English vowels and consonants and practise some syllables with the four tones.
