UPDATE NOTE: So, Bali is AWESOME for reading/writing/thinking/creating/re-wiring/fresh coconut water/daily massages.
It’s not quite as great for high speed internet. :)
Altho I can use Skype OK from here, I tested the video teaching platform yesterday and it’s just not quite gonna cut it for the experience we want to create. So…. we’re gonna press pause on the kick-off party… which means: No class on June 1st!
I’ll keep you posted on when we’ll go forward with the first class. In the meantime, I’m sending you a big hug and thx for your support!

“It seems that the necessary thing to do is not to fear mistakes, to plunge in, to do the best that one can, hoping to learn enough from blunders to correct them eventually.” ~ Abraham Maslow from “Motivation and Personality”
“Musicians must make music, artists must paint, poets must write if they are to be ultimately at peace with themselves. What human beings can be, they must be. They must be true to their own nature. This need we may call self-actualization… It refers to man’s desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything one is capable of becoming.” ~ Abraham Maslow from Motivation and Personality
Abraham Maslow occupies the Great-Grandpa slot in my spiritual family tree and many consider him the grandfather of the current positive psychology movement. He was a 20th century psychologist who studied the greatest people of his generation and distilled the essence of these healthy, optimally functioning people he called “self-actualizers.”
REALLY cool dood. His admonition “What one can be, one must be!” comes pretty darn close to the essence of my philosophy.
In this class we’ll explore why our need to self-actualize is a fundamental NEED (imagine our souls needing oxygen just like our bodies need it… if we aren’t living on purpose, we’re suffocating ourselves!) AND, most importantly, how we can meet the need (and the consequences of NOT meeting it).
Other Big Ideas include the fact that, in any given moment, we’re either choosing to step forward into growth or back into safety. We’ll look at how our moment-to-moment choices one way or the other shape both our ultimate destiny and how we feel at the end of the day. Really powerful.
Maslow’s got a LOT of other huge ideas we’ll explore as well. I guarantee you’ll love the class and appreciate Grandpa Abe and his mojo!
And, remember: “If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you’ll be unhappy for the rest of your life.” :)
—> Also: check out the PhilosophersNote on Motivation and Personality we’ll be using as our guide for the class!
NOTE: If you’re not sure you can make the scheduled time for the class, no worries! Just sign up and you can watch the recorded class whenever’s convenient! :)
