This is a 4-week introductory class that will focus on basic expressions, vocabulary and grammar patterns in Japanese.
Since many students will have taken other Japanese classes on eduFire already, I will assume that all students are familiar with hiragana and katakana. If you feel rusty or don’t know the two basic alphabets, go over them and try to get a ‘feel’ for looking at Japanese. You don’t need to be perfect, but it will help you a lot to know most of the characters. But if there are big problems during class, I will write in romaji.
Go here for hiragana-katakana practice:
Topics we will cover:
Week #1
Basic Greetings/Introductions
A is B style sentences
What is this?
Week #2
Asking someone to do something
Who? What? Where?
Week #3
There is/There are + position (over/under/near/far – etc)
Week #4
‘But’ statements
Suggestions and refusals (shall we~/no thank you)
Any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a message! I look forward to seeing you all to learn some Japanese!
みなさん、いっしょに べんきょう しましょうね!

Jorge said: My plan is follow the Khatzumoto method, but you have a Japanese high school jacket so you have an edge. (jk) posted 9 months ago
Michael said: Haha. Well, the AJATT methodology is pretty sound. But you do really need to dress the part to sparkle ;) posted 9 months ago
Kyle said: Working on setting myself up on the AJATT method as well, but I really hope to solidify basic conversation so I can do some more interactive immersion techniques. posted 9 months ago
Kyle said: Wonderful Class! Very funny, patient and quite the snappy dresser!
