This is a repeat of my “Complete Beginners” Course. We’ll start from the very beginning (no Japanese knowledge required!) and get you through the simplest basics! If you’ve already taken this course, check out the continuation of this one, found on the classes page.
Class will be once a week, but usually lasts around 90 minutes.
Week 1:
-Looking at “Japanese Alphabets”
-More in depth into hiragana (how it works, pronunciation, etc)
-Practicing with hiragana
-How to learn hiragana and study it on your own
Week 2:
-Go over homework
-Hiragana Review
-desu “it is”
-desuka “is it?”
-deshita “was it?”
-ja arimasen “it isn’t”
-ja arimasen deshita “it wasn’t?”
-“what is it?”
-Speaking practice
-LEARN YOUR HIRAGANA
Week 3:
-Go over Homework (you should know-ish your hiragana by now)
-review desu, deshita, ja arimasen, ja arimasendeshita, and “なに”
-Particle は
-kore, sore, are (this, that, that over there)
-“what is this/that/that over there?”
-Speaking practice
-I & you
-Using I & You with previous grammar
Week 4:
-Go over homework (you better know your hiragana by now)
-review kore, sore, are
-kono, sono, ano (this, that, that over there) and compare it with kore, sore, are
-Practice kono/sono/ano and kore/sore/are
-Assign adjective vocab list (start practicing)

Week 5:
-Go over homework
-“i” adjectives, and how to use them
-conjugating “i” adjectives: ~katta, ~kunai, ~kunakatta
-Practicing i-adjectives with previous grammar
Week 6:
-Go over homework
-“na” and “i” adjectives – how are they different?
-conjugating “na” adjectives
-special “na” adjectives (suki, kirai, jyouzu, etc)
-Practice with previous grammar
Week 7:
-Last Class “surprise”
-Moving into next string of classes: What to expect, schedule, etc etc
