THEME : “ENHANCING ENTREPRENEURIAL CAPABILITIES OF STUDENT SOLOPRENEURS IN A GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT”

PURPOSE/
OBJECTIVE:

This International Forum for Student Solopreneurs brings together a panel of distinguished professionals and a budding student solopreneur. The Forum was prompted by student interest on how they could enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities in a global environment. Undergraduate students have little exposure on campus to coursework, on the contributions and creative aspects of entrepreneurship and the new enterprises they launch. The Forum is designed to increase the knowledge among undergraduate and graduate students as well as solopreneurs with start-up businesses.

SPEAKERS’ BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH (In order of Speakers’ Appearance)

Dr. Aldrin P. Antivola

Aldrin earned his Degree in Masters in Business Administration (MBA) – Regis University Program at Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business and later graduated with the Degree of Doctor of Education (Ed. D.) (with Highest Distinction) at the Graduate School of Education, Arts and Sciences (GSEAS), De La Salle University-Dasmarinas.

He is a university professor and a consultant specializing in organizational performance improvement, and other behavioral and change management related initiatives/programs. He serves as a consultant to business and non-profit organizations and personal coach to business executives, managers, non-managers and other individuals who want to improve their effectiveness in different areas of their personal and career lives such as: personal relationships, work and career, management and leadership, etc. He conducts workshops and training programs on performance enhancement and general management to both local and multinational companies. For over ten years, he has been doing several research and does further studies on the behavior and personality profile of top managers, middle managers, first-line managers (supervisors), and non-managers (rank and file employees) and has been designing training programs for the intended audience to achieve an effective and efficient performance.

Anton Kunin

Anton has received his Diploma in Simultaneous Interpreting (English – Russian) (Saint Petersburg State University) in 2009 and is preparing his Bachelor’s Degree at the Faculty of Philology (Saint Petersburg State University). He is twice a laureate of the All-Russia High-School Student Contest in French Language (2006 and 2007) and has scored 5th place among European contestants in the Olyfran contest (2008).

Anton has worked offline as a language teacher for two years, giving one-on-one lessons of English and French. He has spent the last few years designing learning materials for students of English and French, and is now using them in his work. In March 2009, he taught French at the Centre for the French language under the French Embassy in Russia.

Most recently, he realized the potential that the Internet offers for online learning and teaching, and has established his presence on various educational platforms. He offers a wealth of language classes in English, French and Russian on EduFire. Besides, his language classes are also available from Babel Language School and Shayan Second Life Language School in the virtual world of Second Life.

Magali Andrade

Mag graduated at Universidad de San Martin de Porres with the professional title of Lawyer in 1999. She then continued her studies at the Centro de Altos Estudios Nacionales and the Universidad Agraria La Molina to gain her titles of Specialist in National Development and Defense and of Specialist in Political Management and Agricultural Projects respectively.
She began her career in 1996 as Assistant of the Tax Area, moving on to the position of Project leader the next year. In this position, she led a team to develop the first edition of a Tax Law Cases (5-volume series) and developed a consulting project about tax planning for a mining company, which allows it to save $1m in taxes. Since 1998, she is working as the Chief of the Tax Division. Among her achievements were the restructuring of the division and the supervision of consulting projects on tax planning for large companies. These projects allowed the companies to spend around 20% less on tax expenses.

During 2003, she worked as part-time Professor of General Tax Law and Municipal Tax Law at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos’ Law School. The next academic year, she lectured at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru’s Law School during the Seminar of Integration of Tax Issues as Adjunct professor. She also worked part-time at the Universidad de San Martín de Porres’ Law School teaching Basic Tax Law.

Since 1998, Magalí has been the Publisher of “Análisis Tributario”, Peru’s most prestigious journal on taxation issues. She has also edited 14 books on Tax Jurisprudence and 20 editions of Law Taxes.

She has been involved also in social work, performing fundraising activities to benefit the rural community of Chosgon (Peru) (creation of the first library, an audio and video library, improvements in the health care center).
