No matter if you are interested in history, literature, languages or religion, Latin will open up a whole new world to you.

Join this class to learn the basics of Classical Latin, the language used during the Golden Age of the Roman Empire. From there, you can easily continue on to Medieval Latin, Scientific Latin, Church Latin or Neo-Latin even – or just stay and enjoy Roman authors.

This course is very structured. It will lead you from zero knowledge to a level equivalent to one year of Latin study at a regular institution. Completing the course, you will know all elementary grammar and at least 150 words of the most useful vocabulary.

If you aren’t able to attend a class, let me know in advance so that I can record it for you. You will also get the lesson materials as PDF, like everybody else. Do study them before the next lesson in order not to fall behind.

As an additional bonus for students, I will send out a free vocabulary trainer containing the words from our classes, sorted by unit, and more, so that you can learn more useful vocabulary whenever you can spare the time. Throughout the course, you will also receive free e-mail support and I can send you additional exercises to help you understand the issues that you have the most trouble with.

A Latin 201 course for intermediate students, leading up to a level where you can read authentic Roman texts, will be offered after this course is over.

- genuine interest in the ancient world
- regular attendance
