Teaching: Law of Attraction Sale and Prosperity, Sports Mind-Performance for Golf, and Sports Mind-Performance for Bowling
Your brain's rhythm or your level of brain activity plays a decisive role in the quality of life that you're experiencing. The Silva Life System teaches how to control your brain's rhythm and how to function at the Alpha brain wave level, the ideal brain frequency at which to think. This mental technique, developed by Jose Silva, has been used with great success by millions of people around the globe for the past 40 years.
Although most people enter a light sleep when their brain frequency drops down to Alpha, Jose Silva discovered a way to train people to stay consciously awake while at the Alpha Level. This has several implications, as is explained below.
The brain operates on a small amount of electrical energy and this electric current vibrates at different rates. Sometimes it vibrates rapidly, at 20 cycles per second (20 cps) or even faster. Sometimes it vibrates slowly, at 10 cps or lower. The brain frequency spectrum has been divided into four different segments, based on the number of cycles per second. The four spectrums are Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta.
1. At Beta, the brain vibrates at more than 14 cps (typically 20 cps, and up to 40 cps); this is the aware state.
2. At Alpha, the brain vibrates at a rate of between 7 and 14 cps; this state is associated with light sleep and with REM sleep.
3. At Theta, the speed of the brain's vibration is between 4 and 7 cps; this level of the mind is associated with deep, comfortable sleep.
4. At Delta the brain's vibrations are below 4 cps; Delta is associated with very deep sleep.
The Beta state is the so-called conscious or waking state. The activities that are carried out at Beta include: collecting information through the five senses, data analysis, reasoning, logic, and putting ideas into action. In addition, the Beta state tends to be externally focused.
Alpha and Theta form the subconscious regions of the mind's operation; these two levels correspond to a more internally focused, self-reflective state. Delta is the unconscious region of thought activity.
The more stressed we become, the more rapidly our brain waves vibrate. When a person gets excited, fearful, angry, nervous, or feels any stirring emotion, the brain's rhythm increases and brain activity rises. Poor health, excitability, and weak concentration, are all characterized by an excessive degree of brain wave activity, usually more than 21 cps. On the other hand, as is explained below, a lower brain rhythm is associated with a state of ease, focused concentration, and general well-being.
There are many benefits to being consciously able to lower your brain's rhythm to the Alpha state. Some of these benefits are the following:
• Alpha is a very receptive mental state; research has shown that you can use the Alpha state for effective self-hypnosis and accelerated learning.
• In addition, affirmations and creative visualization are more effective at this level of mind.
• Alpha is associated with deep relaxation, which is essential to your health and well-being.
• This level of the mind is conducive to creative thinking and intuition, and is excellent for problem solving, as well as for finding new ideas.
• While functioning at this level, apart from the usual left brain activity-associated with logic, examining details, and so on--the right brain also gets activated. That is, the Alpha frequency allows whole-brain thinking.
• In addition, people who can consciously lower their brain waves to Alpha have been shown to have better focus and concentration, and to be more confident and at ease.
Scientific research has shown that most people do their thinking at the Beta level, while only 10% of the population are natural Alpha thinkers. That is, most people enter the subconscious state and then fall asleep when their brain frequency slows down to Alpha. High achievers are able to stay awake at the Alpha level and do their thinking at this deeper level of mind. The Silva Life System teaches how to consciously lower your brain wave activity and enter the Alpha state at will, while remaining awake, so that anyone can take advantage of the myriad of benefits of thinking at the Alpha level.
