When, if, ever does a person have the right to end his or her own life?
As a Muslim, I believe that under no circumstances a man should kill himself as he has no right to do so, simply because he did not give himself the gift of life, but it was given to him by the almighty Allah, the creator of heavens and earth.
From Islamic point of view, a man should never kill himself under any condition. The holy Qura’n states that clearly in many verses, I am going to mention some of them;
1- Surat al Ma’eda, or Surah 5; verse 32
On that account; we “Allah” ordained for the children of Israel “and all believers Muslims” that if anyone slew a person, unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land, it would be as if he slew the whole people and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.
2-Surat al An’am, Surah 6; verse 151
“…take not life, which Allah hath made sacred ”including one’s self”, except by way of justice and law, thus doth he command you, that you may learn wisdom…”
In this verse, the Almighty Allah prohibit killing any human being “including one’s self”
3-Surat al Furqan, or Surah 25; 68
“…nor slay such a life as Allah has made sacred, “including one’s self” except for a just cause…”
In this verse, the Almighty Allah is describing his sincere servant; those who will inherit his kingdom, and his earth. Among his sincere servants are those who do not worship with Allah another God like a son or a partner, and those who do not kill a human being, or themselves, except for just cause.
From the previous three verses in different chapters of the Glorious Qura’n, we can say that it is prohibited according to the Islamic law to kill any human or yourself. Since I am a Muslim, I agree and believe in the point of view of the Glorious Qura’n. I believe that none has the right to take away his life under any circumstances.
As for the book who influenced my life a lot, it is the Glorious Qura’n. Since my adolescence, there were a lot of questions in my mind concerning life? The reason we were created? What is after death? Is there life after death? And how it would look? And who would go there?
I studied the Holy Qura’n for so many years. I found all the answers and I found myself in my Holy Qura’n. That is why I consider it to be the book that changed my life and made me a better person who knows where he came from and where he is heading to. Praise be to the Almighty Allah my lord and my creator.
