7 Facts About Kitchen Knives You Should Know:

1.  Using the wrong type of knife or a dull knife can cause strain on your hands and long term injury to your tendons.

2.  Improper storage can dull your knives, lead to injury (slipping from a firm vegetable, falling to the floor and striking a small child or your foot, etc) and/or end up in the hands of children.

2.  Dull knives are tedius, making cooking much less enjoyable.

4.  You cannot use the same knife for everything in the kitchen.  Do you know the difference between a chef's knife, paring knife, cleaver and bread knife, for example?

5.  Poultry shears are just as much a knife as they are scissors.  Do you have them or know how to use them?

6.  Having the best knife on the planet is worthless if you don't know how to sharpen it.

7.  Thirty minute meals can become two hour meals without the right cutting board.  Do you know which kind of cutting board to use and how to store it, as well?
