GARRAUD : First see your name here http://www.geopatronyme.com/cgi-bin/carte/nomcarte.cgi?nom=garraud&submit=Valider&client=cdip GARRAUD is a Germanic first name that became a French surname. Etymologically it comes from WARIN-WALT “protection-power” whose roots are found in modern English in WARN and WIELD. |

Wow….very interesting. My name has German roots! Lately I’ve been learning so much about my ancestry. During Thanksgiving dinner I found out I was 1/8 Polish! |

Miss KIMM ! First I must have some information about your ancerstor’s geographical origin. I am speaking here about your grandfather KIMM. Where was he from ? |
I suspect Korea, but it has always been said that he was from China and came to Australia around 1850’s. It is not known if Kimm is his first or last name. I think perhaps Korea because “Kim” is a popular last name there. As for my actual grandfather, he is Australian, as was his parents. And I’m as white as a ghost. I would love to know what you can dig up Patrick! |
I found 김 = KIM in Korean with the Chinese correspondant 金 JIN “Gold”. |
