I may be just a little premature (or as I like to think of it – Ahead of My Time) but has any one else noticed that we are only 7,954 posts shy of reaching 60,000! So perhaps it is time to start another game, but this one somewhat different from the other excellent games we are all enjoying in the Fireside Chat threads. In This Game You May Win a Prize! That’s right, you get a chance to win a prize if you win this simple game. The rules are simple. Just post to this thread the date and time of day you think the community here on eduFire will put us over the magical number of 60,000! The person who guesses closest to the actual date and time will win the Grand Prize described below. Just a couple of rules to abide by…
What You Can Win…In this contest everyone has a chance to compete for a grand prize package consisting of:
This gives you an entire week to come up with your best guestimate of when the magical event may occur! Also please note that this game and it’s prizes are not provided by eduFire, but by one of this site’s biggest fans! Good luck to all who choose to compete! Just an example of the type of custom animation you can win! |

Judging from Ron’s past performance, Sept 16 is a good choice. After that all bets are off. |

I came across this PowerPoint slide I created for my Marketing class held several weeks ago while preparing to post parts of the class presentation to YouTube. This slide was made in mid-July and shows that we had 45,015 posts at that point in time. We crossed the 50,000 mark on August 21, 2009. This means that in roughly 5 weeks we posted 5,000 posts, or roughly 1,000 per week. Now of course their were a lot of extra postings being done towards the approach to 50,000 posts, but I am sure that there will be a lot more fabulous prizes offered by Koichi and Company as we approach 60,000 so that frenzy will probably repeat as we meet 60,000. But what is really interesting that the slide shows is that we have nearly 300 more voices active in the forums now than we had in mid July. Three weeks ago when we crossed 50,000 we had 2,077 active voices in the forums. We have added 82 active voices in the forums in just 21 days. Also notice that it took 4 weeks to add 3,500 posts, but it has taken only three weeks to add almost 2,350 posts. Bottom line, we are averaging over one hundred postings per day, with roughly 7,700 postings to go. With these clues would anyone like to revise their guess?

Without doing any math, but considering Ron’s clues….. |

October 30, 2009. Just to be a spiteful jerk. If I win I’ll donate the prize to my favorite teacher. |

Hello Everyone! We are now 7,238 posts shy of 60,000. We are averaging just a little over 120 posts per day. But remember, the average number of posting escalates as we near a milestone such as 60,000 due to people hoping to win some of the many prizes eduFire offers such as T-Shirts, Free Classes, etc. So, when do you think we will pass the 60,000 mark? Your correct answer can also win a prize. |
|
|
In the past seven days we have had almost 900 forum postings. The average forum postings have been roughly 125-130 posts a day. We are only 7,069 posts away from 60,000. Does anyone else care to take a guess of when we will cross 60,000? I will be taking entries until midnight tomorrow. |

To who-so-ever wins, I will take your prize away when you are on the forum, basking the glow of the moment. I will then proclaim the winner to be who-so-ever posts the most in my pay-pal account. (Just kidding) You can call me Kanye from now on. (Just kidding again) |

I think the only thing that could make me wrong would be a larger than expected surge near the end. I’m sticking firm. |

53,899 is such a messy number! That is why I am adding this post – to make it a nice, round number! 53,900! One Step Closer to eduFire T-Shirts! |

You know Ron, where you and I are there is more thought about taking our shirts off. Maybe edufire can start pimping Borat-like shorts instead of T-shirts. |
