Might be time to teach a class...

The internet is working fine. The audio is working fine. The platform makes sense. Even the camcorder is going now, thanks to Marco who was diagnosing and fixing computer issues from a distance. And my contingency plans are starting to develop their own contingency plans.

So… I am thinking that, after hanging out on this platform for several weeks, it’s getting time to teach a class here. I figure I’ll do a bunch of them eventually, but as I consider what to put up first, I am thinking about, among other things, the marketing aspect. Possibilities…

An introduction to options for home schooling writing curricula: That would probably have to be advertised primarily off the Edufire platform. I think there are a few homeschooling parents here — just a few.

My spelling program: There might be students who are currently using the platform.

Then again, maybe I should teach something to my fellow tutors, who I have been chatting with for weeks now.

Thoughts? :)

I had a class yesterday and Adobe was working perfectly.

Thanks Marco!

Karen, our son finished high school (2008) with a hybrid home curriculum (part on campus, part at home). Our best advisors were certain staff at the school (Typical question: how does home schooling work, what is required legally, what curriculum options are there, what do we as parents need to provide and do, etc.). I’d recommend letting schools in your area know what you’re planning to offer, and how to access you in EF.

Best of luck Karen! Even though I’m working on my Art of War stuff, and I’ll circle back to ESL material, homeschooling is definitely an issue as well for everyone involved in online education (IMHO). Whatever thoughts and conclusions you make will be an interesting contribution.

Thanks. I probably will start off with the homeschool writing class — an introduction to several different writing programs that utilize the idea of ‘writing traits’, but vary in their approach.

And it’s posted here . (I do realize it’s late by some people’s time zones. I was conferring with some folks as I set the schedule, trying to make it work out…. but there will probably be others who are by then snoring away.)
