For all American ESL and Foreign Language Teachers and all others:

Over this 4th of July holiday it would be nice if we share with our memories of Independence Day with everyone..

Since this is the USA main holiday we should take time and teach about the significance of what we are

celebrating as a nation. I am looking forward to your comments. Everyone students and Instructors are

Welcome!!!

Have a happy and safe 4th!!!!

John,

Great idea! My favorite memories surround lighting fireworks with my family. It’s amazing how large and yet small my world has become since then. Large because I now understand that there is a world beyond my house and home town and small in that it is now a mouse click away!

I would love to hear about holidays in other countries that center on nationhood/independence, too!

My favorite memory is watching the fireworks with my husband and son in Barcarrota street, in my hometown of Bradenton, FL; right in front of the Manatee River.
We go every year, even when we lived a thousand miles away

My favorite memory is setting up chairs along the main street downtown iin the morning and watching the local 4th of July parade go by. I love to see my son play trumpet in one of the parade bands. There is also an adorable float by a local basset-hound lovers society which is populated entirely by basset hounds and their owners, all dressed in red, white and blue. I love to see the fireworks at night too.

Well I have to say fourth of July is crazy at my house..or not…All of the family on my dad’s side meet up in a small town in the mountains of Georgia where the family owns a nice little house on a stream. We play in the stream, play huge family sports, watch movies, cook out, play poker (yeah my family owns one of those charity poker companies so they’re crazy good), and alll sorts more. It’s pretty fun! Especially seeing my crazy family get competitive in a volleyball game…soooo hilarious! We just got the email yesterday about the plans for this weekend and they sound great! I just hope I get to go…I have to work unless I can find someone to cover me… :(
