“Once upon a time, there was an Empire whose domination spread far and wide and covered most of the world, as it was known back then. And at the heart of the Empire there stood the majestic capital, the Eternal City, Rome…” (insert cheesy music here) How’s that for a Latin course introduction? Awful, I know… :)) But the fact is, Rome actually was a superpower during Antiquity, and its language was indeed spoken by both the conquerors and the conquered… What are the other four facts that everyone should know about Latin, you may wonder…? Well, there’s just one way to find out: by signing up for this one-time course! You may not want to study Latin at all, but taking a glimpse into the idiom that is the basis for all Romance languages might prove useful! We’ll explore some of the Latin that we English speakers use every day, perhaps without even realizing it. We’ll discuss the way Latin might have been pronounced when it was still a spoken language. We’ll even learn some “survival Latin” – you never know when they’ll invent a time machine! ;) For this, and some more, come and join us for a (hopefully) interesting and amusing class! http://edufire.com/classes/11-five-facts-everyone-should-know-about-latin |

Good luck Sandra I. I wish you all the best! |

Thanks for offering this Latin class, Sandra! Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur. Yes, Sandra makes her class sound so fun that I signed right up. (I always agree with Koichi, it seems.) |

Hey guys! Stupid question… I was away for a month and was amazed to see the “classes” section. My question is – how can one orgazine a class like this? Sandra? ;-) |
Hey Yuriy, I will send Marco (the guru) your way for a quick intro of the one-to-many classes. |
Yuriy! Send me a message of when we can get together for a chat and we’ll sort it all out. :) |
Wow, guys, I’m SO impressed! I’m amazed that so many people have already joined!!! I never thought I will have so many students! Thank you so much for your interest!!! :) I do hope the class will be enjoyable! |

thanks Sandra, thanks a lot for your refreshing class, as i studied Latin for four years, but i forgot all after so many years of not using it. Latin helped me a lot during my life span, as i tried to learn so many languages; i studied french for three years, Italian for one year, Greek for four years, English all my life, and Spanish for over 5 years, nothing sticked in my mind except English and Spanish, the rest are gone long ago. but i am sure that the refreshing Latin course might help me to recall the rest of the dead languages in my mind. |

Abdul, I’m so happy that you registered! :) Lewis – sorry for replying so late. For my part, you are most welcome to come!!! I saw something about a 18 years limit, but I didn’t put it in there! So if you can, do sign up! Heh, I’ll try to suppliment the places if so many people want to attent! I never thought so many of you guys would be interested in Latin! It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, hehehe… |

I’m so sad I can’t take part in this course… I’ll be working! =/ |

Pri – I’m so sorry you can’t come…. :( I know you were interested in Latin…. Maybe if we record the session you’ll be able to at least watch it! :) Lewis…. I’m sorry you can’t join…. You would have been very, very welcomed! I don’t plan on saying anything that isn’t suitable, my class will be totally “G”-rated! Hopefully you’ll be able to watch the recording…. |

Sandra, you’re an overnight Latin sensation! :) I think you’ll be getting enough followers to teach “Five Facts” on an ongoing basis. Meanwhile, I’m brushing up on toga making at http://www.howtomakeatoga.info/ |
Oh, my…. I’m so glad I decided to do this…. :) Thanks for the link, DJ! I never wore a toga, but I helped dress up two of my colleagues at the Education Fair last semester…. their togas (or should I say…. togae?) didn’t look that elaborated, but they were decently “Roman”…. But I’ve seen pictures of my Mum playing the personification of Rome (in a high-school play) and she looked…. extremely beautiful. So I guess my Grandma could have created such a website if the Internet was invented 40 years ago…. :) |

Well, we did it! :) I want to thank all the people who could make it to the class for their interest, their patience and for bearing with me all through the presentaton. I’m sorry for the minor audio problems we got, I’m sorry I had to make you all shut up, but I’m glad that, after all, the class went fine. (at least I hope so). So, once again, VOBIS GRATIAS AGO! :) |

sandra, you were great, thank you very much |
You were a great teacher. I learned a great deal and some interesting facts about the English language as well! You should do a follow-up course. |
It really my pleasure, Abdul! I’m glad that you could join us! :) |
Thank you, Alicia! I’m really glad I was able to say interesting things – that was my purpose, after all! :)) A follow-up course…. would be difficult, since I tried to put most of what I knew into this course…. :)) But I’ll think about it, I promise! :) Once again, thanks for coming! |
