I feel like I’m too young and inexperienced to have anything good, but what about you? There has to be some really interesting stories out there :) |
Well I am in the same boat Koichi. However, I am thinking of having a tattooing class and as part of it, getting a tattoo to show the class how the process works. |

I think you just won the pot, Tyler! haha. |

I’m new as a tutor, but what about public speaking? they are kind of related. Anyway, what about the time I rapped in a Toastmaster meeting? I wanted to recite the lyrics for Will Smith’s “Tell me why” and got too much into the rhythm. I’m too old to bboy it so I just walked around the room clapping my hands and reciting Will’s part (I didn’t even try MJB’s part). At least I kept eye contact with my audience and didn’t say any crutch words like ‘ah/um’. I’m thinking of a class of hiphop/rap for adults. There are too many stereotypes and everybody over 45 thinks rap is only what Snoop-Dogg and 50cents does. |

Also, ToastMaster members don’t always seem to understand that sometimes you need to break the rules if you want to communicate and standing behind a podium isn’t always the best idea. |

Koichi, did I mention I already get one. I got it as a graduation present. : ) |
Show us your tattoo Tyler! |
I can get the design of it. However, in order to see it, you will have to attend my Tattooing class. MUHAHAHAHA. ok I’m done. |
Gee, I wonder why he is being so secretive about where it is. Does he really want me to use my imagination here? |
It’s on my upper right arm. I am going to put the design on my profile pic. |

I took pictures of myself in several costumes, and I’ve posted them and asked the students to describe my “family members”. lolo XD “This is my grandmother class, and she’s very manly. She is wearing a dress too. So the way to remember that un vestido (a dress) is to remember that grandma is manly.” |

I’ve yet to have any crazy Edufire stories, but as an assistant-instructor to iaido, I once picked up a wooden naginata to explain the reasoning behind one of the sword techniques. Well, I get asked another question by a different student, and the original student I was talking to had picked up a bo (staff) and golf-swung that thing at the naginata, breaking off the entire blade, I assume to show me that he understood what I was talking about. I guess not so crazy as what I’ve done, but the interlude of craziness that becomes me as a teacher. |

When I was having Internet problems, I held eduFire classes at the local McDonalds to use their wireless. At a nonvirtual school, I’ve stood and walked on tables as I recited poetry. The students liked the idea as did I, but management wasn’t too pleased. My hat is off to Tyler about getting a tattoo for a class. To make it more interesting, maybe he could bring a laptop and webcam and we could watch him get a tattoo as part of the class. |

Alan, that is what I was planning to do. : ) I actually bought a webcam just for that reason, teaching I mean. |
@Alan; Maybe we both should have tried spinning on our heads. A little challenge never hurt anybody (according to people who’ve never done any “break-neck dancing”). |
craziest? hmm, i can think of the most ridiculous one… haha |
Sounds to me like a success story. You have to tailor your tutoring to the students needs and a 2 year old probably has different needs than a 20 year old. You got to the child and he responded better than he did when you were “lecturing” him. How old was he? |
hmmm… Actually, he was 14 that time… haha~ really ridiculous! But i think he was just really fond of stuffed toys because he gave me a big one when he had a vacation in my country. ^^ |

The more experience you get as a teacher, the less likely you are to actually talk about the crazy things you’ve done, and the less fun they seem. I personally regret every nutbag thing I’ve ever done. |
