Hey, I’m about as good on HTML as I am at at leaping from tall buildings in a simple bound! One of our teachers, fantastic teacher at that, wants to spice up his eduFire profile. I’m sure he’ll be posting here soon with specifics but if anyone can help out I’d really appreciate it, thanks so much! |

Hello there ! I am the teacher Marco was referring to in his post. I received the newletter in relation with “featured profile”, so I updated my profile with lessons in Business French, and I thought there was a tool to use in the site in order to show this update…..and apparently, there is none ….. I don’t understand why. Thank you for any help in this regard. JM |

Hi Jean-Marie, I am not sure I understand the problem properly. I can see you have successfully added Business French to your list of subjects. Students will now be able to request sessions in that from you. In case you are wondering why there is no link from Business French, it is because that is not one of the categories on the eduFire language (or other subject) list. I teach quite a few categories which are not on an eduFire list but it doesn’t really cause problems….. If that is not the problem, I would be happy to help provide some simple HTML if you explain what you are wanting to do. All the best. |

The profile page gives a lot of room for “spicing it up”, but be careful. It is easy to overdo it and start distracting from an already clean design. What I did was find what bugged me most, the way a large number of classes can push other important information like testimonials and feedback down, and fixed that. Adding to many colors, images, animation, etc just for looks will reduce its appeal in my opinion. See it here: http://edufire.com/users/7300-other-tutor-dave-keays warning: marketeering alert |

Hello Mair, Thanks for your reply. Again, I tried to follow the recommendations and suggestions in order to attract potential students, but I can’t. Cordialement ! JM |

I like spicing up my profile page! :) HTML is my friend. |

@ Dave : I am with you when you say that too much on the profile page is not good. As far as I am concerned, I didn’t want to overload my page, I just wanted to give some explanations on my lessons in relation with the suggestions and recommendations from edufire (featured profile from the newsletter) |

Unfortunately, many do overload their page. Fortunately, a stark design is coming back into style. Notice that in my own file, I did not change the colors or backgrounds even though I could. I’ll look into what the newsletter says and get back to you. If there is enough interest I’ll put together a free class on hacking your profile. |

Also, I have an article on the basics of HTML. It is more angled for people who want to write a whole site than just add juice to their profiles and blog postings. It goes into some theory. Otherwise it is about as useful as a tourist’s phrasebook for a foreign language. http://edufire.com/content/articles/282-html-basics Let me know what you think. |
