1. Can I save whiteboards that I’ve setup?

2. What is the “Connect Pro Add-in”? (You can see this under the “Present” tab.)

Thanks!

I’m kind of guessing on these, but I think my answers are right (someone should confirm, though).

1. Can’t save whiteboards yet, though I think I heard that’s something they’re working on.

2. The add-in allows you to do screen sharing…as in, you can make it so your student / tutor can see what you see on your screen, if you wanted to show them something.

Can anyone confirm whether these answers are correct or not? :)

You can have the chat emailed to you but I haven’t heard about saving whiteboards. I am sure someone will get back to you soon. I believe Koichi hit it on the head about the add-on.

I believe screen sharing works by default in the presentation pod once the update is installed (usually shortly after first using the platform).

Interested to see what the guys in ‘the know’ say. :)

A couple of follow-ups:

1 – Yes, whiteboards can’t be saved yet. If you’re looking to save the visual element of the whiteboard you can always do a screen capture and then send the file to the student. If it’s the actual whiteboard itself that’s something that we can try to do (no promises though! :)). Please add it to the Ideas board if you have a chance.

2 – Our new platform works “out of the box” (no software install required). However, if you’d like to share documents, presentations, etc. with your student then you’ll need to download and install a small add-in. It’s a very small download and will extend the functionality quite a bit.

Re. 1 – saving whiteboards: Doing a screen capture is a great suggestion. Thanks, Jon.

I hope there’ll eventually be a way to save the actual whiteboard.

Thanks all, I’ll go add to the idea box. There is an amazing piece of software I use when teaching at community colleges that integrates with their smart boards. It is very similar to this whiteboard technology but a little more robust and allows saving and various manipulations. Also many teachers will be familiar with it anyway as its the standard for smartboards ( at least I think it is).
