Hi Daniel! All times are shown in your own local time zone. So as long as both parties have them set correctly on their profiles, there should not be a problem. We are going to look into more details about your issue though and we will report back here soon. Thanks for letting us know.

Yeah, this is a big issue for me, too, since I am in Tokyo. The system so far seems to be working pretty well, but it’s a little problematic. It would be nice if when I typed in my own time, it also automatically showed me the time that would be for the person I am having the lesson with. That way I could mentally confirm, “Oh yeah, they said it would be 5 pm for them.”

This is interesting, I spoke to another tutor from the same area recently and she also had the same problem. See if Jared or Scott can shed any light on it. I’ll alert them to it.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention guys.

guys, the problem is that news arrived to Europe saying, that for example, people in Argentina were changing the clocks on October 5th . Now it s been confirmed we are changing clocks on 19th. I think that might have created some confussion

Hey Barbara. We’re running our timing based on historical assumptions about daylight savings time switches and whatnot. If there have been recent changes made in certain parts of the world they may not be reflected in our system. I guess at this point you’ll have to do the math based on what your part of the world is doing time-wise. We will look into this though and if there’s something we can do about this in the short-term we will. Our apologies for the issues here.

What time difference are you from US Eastern time, Barbara?

Bárbara Bosse Bárbara Bosse * 11 post(s)

Mail-reply-senderSend Message

US Eastern? You mean New York?

Now +1 hour, here is 13:15 and there 12:15.

Your Local Timezone = GMT – 03:00
Mondday, 13 October 2008
13:17:52 / 1:17:52 p.m.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
Monday, 13 October 2008
16:17:52 / 4:17:52 p.m.

yes, US Eastern is NY etc.

Remember also that here in the UK we are currently GMT +1 …. due to change in a couple of weeks. Here right now it is: 5:20pm (17:20)

May I suggest something like this: clicky

Thank you

I know the hour and I don’t have problems with that. For instance, I scheduled a lesson on Thursday at 8:30 pm my time (GMT -3), the other person live in California (GMT -7) so difference are just 4 hours, right? (-3-4= -7) So she has to enter the classroom at 4:30 pm, right? (8:30 pm – 4 hours = 4:30 pm) But on her time table it´s shown 3:30 pm, hmmm
Why?

Yes at the moment the issue appears to be mainly with tutors in Buenos Aires. Given that the teaching room opens 30 mins early and remains open for a couple of hours. May I suggest that both you and your student communicate via messages and ensure you’re both there at the same time. :)

I think when we all change our clocks in a few weeks time everything will be resolved.

Hope you have a great lesson! :)

I forgot to ask you Barbara, I don’t believe we have met. Are you 100% happy with the platform and everything? Let me know if you’d like me to go through it with you.

Best wishes

California PDT = GMT/UTC – 08:00 hours.

PDT is “daylight savings time” in the Pacific U.S. coastal region.

PDT will be changing to “standard time” in a few weeks. LOL
