When I post it puts up weird characters and I have to go into edit to fix it. You probably already know about this, but I thought I would mention it. |

I was just about to make the same post…same thing is happening to me. So I go back in and edit my post and it works fine |

Hey Everyone, This is now fixed. And, since it was my mistake earlier today that led to it, I thought I should explain. We had a problem in the forums where when a user typed 2 periods it parsed that incorrectly and led to duplication of text. The reason for this is the routine which processes the raw text and creates the html, the “RedCloth” gem’s to_html routine has a bug in it. To prevent this we added a filter which looks for the 2 periods and replaces them with 3 periods (which RedCloth will correctly convert to an HTML ellipsis character). Unfortunately I wrote the pattern for this incorrectly and it led to the bugs you noted. Which are now fixed. My apologies. |

Awesome…this happened to me 2x tonight & I thought maybe my stalker was getting angry! =) |
… thank you! … no problem … |
Scott… if i put a dot, dot, dot (as in etc.) then a space, I get those weird little boxes in between… But…if I take the space out after the 3 dots I do not get the weired boxes… ?? |
Never min…it works now!! Great job!! =) |
Scott – spoke too soon… |

Hehe, it’s still better than your entire post getting corrupted. :) |
tee hee@Steve…ye…much better than repeating text! Now if the edufire techs could just add some color to these boxe…pocka-dots, stripes, something… =) |

let me see if i’ve got this straight. redcloth markdown has a bug that causes two periods to turn into a duplicate of the previous word string. but there’s a workaround code in place that turns two periods into ellipsis points. well, click my ruby slippers! there’s no place like edufire. :) |

Yay, it’s fixed! Reminds me of similar programming “experiments” that I’ve done before and not realized I’d messed something up until a user said “Hey, you messed something up!”, and I’m like “Oh….yeah….Eep!” :) |
Gee Scott, thanks so much for explaining that. :-| DJ – I gotta remember that: “Well click my ruby slippers!” – that is just too funny! :) |
