Hello, my name is Marisha. I find out about Edufire when I was googling “learning Arabic online”. I was very excited and was immediately set up a session with a tutor. The lesson was good, but we had to do it in “chatting” and “note”, instead of talking face to face. My tutor (Lutfiel) said something about the file was corrupted when he tried to get on???? He can see and hear me, but I can’t see him or hear him. That was awkward, but we made it anyway. Ok, well then I thought probably there was something wrong with his computer connection or other technical problem, so today I wanted to try again. I got my self a nice Spanish tutor (Sean), we got on, but this time, no sound coming out from me. We can see each other and I can hear him very well, but he couldn’t hear me at first, and later he could hear me but my voice was breaking up. We ended up end our lesson, and he said he would try not to get me invoiced by Edufire. I was soooo bummed out. All and all I love this idea of tutoring online, and I know I won’t stop until I get it right. If there’s any technical problem within Edufire, I hope you guys fix it soon, and I will see that my computer get checked up as well. Thanks so much.

Hi Marisha, I am sad that your session did not go well. However, when I teach in Edufire and have technical problems with voice, I use skype voice call. Meanwhile, I use Edufire platform in sharing files, whiteboard and other great tools there. So, you can do that with your tutors next time.

I agree with you that learning online is very exciting. You just should expect that sometimes there are some technical problems which may happen. They rarely happen though. Edufire team is always working hard to make you enjoy learning and teaching.

Enjoy learning here and don’t lose hope. We are all here to make you happy :)

Welcome to edufire Marisha.

Did you do the technical tests they provide before the sessions to check your system before hand? They have trouble shooting steps if the system didn’t check out. I hope this helps.

I also was and still am excited by edufire. I joined 3 weeks ago and I am on it every day using the flashcards and seeing what else I can learn. I have had 2 tutoring sessions and have taken 1 of the free classes on edufire. They were great. I’m sure once all the bugs are corrected for you you’ll enjoy it more. Good luck.

Thank you, Alicia.
By the way, I have question. My last Spanish session was cut short since we had problems. My tutor, Sean, said he would try to cancel the session so I won’t get billed. But I just got new invoice from Edufire on that lesson. What should I do? Thanks.

Marco, could you tell everyone the steps to take when someone wants to use Skype for their sound instead of the platform? That would be very helpful. Or is there a place where you have already mentioned these steps to take? Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hey Marisha. I’ll try to follow up here more soon (although the crew here has already given great advice!) but I did want to let you know that we removed the invoice so you won’t have to worry about that anymore. My apologies about the difficulties you faced.

Marco, I did find the place where you said to simply turn off the microphone in Adobe for both the tutor and the student. Both must have Skype and each other’s user name in order to use Skype for the sound. Skype offers both free and paying accounts by the way, so choose the free one when setting up.
Okay, I should try this next time during my own sessions. Now I must come out of hiatus and be ready to tutor beginning Spanish and English again. That makes me happy. ;)

Animo! You will get it and when you do you will be so happy. Sometimes just exiting and entering again will make things happen the right way.
