Hi everyone. I am just beginning the Italian language journey here in my 41st year (ugh!) and my desire to learn comes from my passion in ancient Roma history and its architecture (primarily from Sulla through to Hadrian). I hope that by studying some Italian and have the capability to speak some of the language when the day comes for me to FINALLY get to Roma, I will not appear to be a COMPLETE idiot! I have discovered in my travels that if I at least attempt to speak the language, the “locals” will be far more appreciative and helpful. I discovered this during the one trip I made to Paris some years ago. I only met very nice and helpful French people and not the pompous, stuck up ones that I have heard about from other Americans. Hmm… perhaps an urban legend??? Any-hoo… I appreciate any help and guidance and look forward to the journey! Matthew |

Hello Matthew! Welcome to Edufire. We have wonderful Italian tutors here and there’s a Free Italian Class coming up! French is killer for me (I just can’t pronounce "baroque"), but Italian is somehow easier to pronounce, ya? Roman Emperors and Roman Gods are especially fascinating to study. Sometimes too fascinating that it makes you wish Alexander didn’t turn around =) You’ll love it here! Have fun & happy learning! |

I remember that Janus month is already approaching so I guess old Roma will be known for its god of the beginnings. |

Hi Matthew, welcome to eduFire. You know the older I get the more I want to learn. I think I had better hurry up or I may be late for my own funeral, hopefully, lol. So much to do, so little time. Enjoy your studies here on eduFire! |
