Salam Alikum,

I am new, my name is Alysia, I read that we are supposed to introduce ourselves.
I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I am taking my time before setting up any classes, I would like to make sure once I set up a class, it is well planned, organized and easy to follow. I have watched a lot of the videos that apply to beginning Arabic, for American’s trying to learn Arabic as a second language the native or experienced tutors/teachers move very quickly. I would rather take my time. A new language, subject or concept is not learned over night.

Ma Salama

Hi Alysia! Welcome to eduFire! Enjoy your orientation class with Marco next Wednesday. I’m curious to know where in the Middle East did you go, and what got your interested in Arabic? I’ve taken a few Arabic classes here on eduFire and absolutely loved it! I’m glad you found this site, and I’m sure you are going to absolutely love it here! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Syria and Turkey it was amazing, Dubai has me infatuated with Arabic. I would love to go work in Dubai and there is a big difference between classic Arabic used for reading the Q’uran and common colloquial Arabic. I actually have a Syrian/ Lebanese dialect but also understand quite a bit of the Egyptian dialect as well due to Egypt being the main media production hub. I am building my vocabulary, it would be easier to do so in a Arabic speaking country due to immersion.

Shukran Fadi,

It doesn’t look like edufire is lacking tutors for any subject. I wonder if anyone is interested in Linux or wants to teach a sushi making class (shrug)

I would sooooo live in Dubai too! That city fascinates me. Turkey is also another place I’d love to visit some day. Wow! You are so lucky you’ve visited those countries. I’m jealous. LOL

No problem (La Shukra Ala Wageb), I guess I am interested in Linux, except that I am kind of busy these days, but I’ll contact you when I can.
Thanks
