Hi,
I’m Luke and i have joined edufire with a view to improve my (very badly) self taught japanese.
At the moment im simply searching for learning resources before i begin any real lessons so that i can focus on the grammer and tricky parts with the tutor having learnt a decent amount of basic words and phrases before hand.
If you have a suggestion for good beginners text books (for japanese of course) then please let me know!
Look forward to learning from some of you soon!

Hi luke, I am learning Japanese, too. My favorite textbooks ( and don’t just take my word for it…. Advanced placement Japanese learners and above recommend these, too) are Genki Integrated, and the Basic Kanji book for writing/ vocabulary. Genki also has an audio component. Good luck !

Thank you (arigato) very much for the warm welcome and the advice on how to get started!
Ive placed an order for the Genki text book and should have it by tommorow :)
I’m a student at a school where there are very few options when considering what languages to pick up. Indeed, no languages outside of europe are taught and even then the choice is simply french or spanish.
I’m therefor wondering whether edufire has a poster or some kind of advert that i could put up on the information boards at my school so that the around 2,000 students that are stuck learning either french or spanish (not that that is a bad thing!!) can broaden their horizons.
I know there would certainly be a small amount of interest even if its notoriously difficult to get students to part with their cash :)
I love the set up you have here and i cant wait to get started on some lessons as soon my workload decreases.
Thanks again!
