I’m Laura, from Spain. i’M NEW IN eDUFIRE, AND i JUST WANTED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF IN THIS FANTASTIC COMMUNITY

I’m grauated as English Teacher (focused on primary school) at Valladolid University.

I love languages, especially English.
I have been training people across all age groups over the last 3 years.
I have just a little experience teaching a second language but the most important thing I take into account when I came into a class is the importance of motivation in my classroom.

I think that the earlier a person is introduced to a second language, the greater the chances are that the child will become truly proficient in the language.

For me a good Teacher is a person who appreciate his/her learners and tries to feel what his/her learners feels and think during they are making the effort of learning.

Two aspects which never could be forgotten in my class are:

MOTIVATION

Is very important for me to understand how motivation works in the classroom.

There are infinite procedures teachers use to achieve desired effects from their students, but there are general patterns these motivational tools follow. In order for teachers to communicate with their students, they must identify with their needs on an individual basis .

These needs, in ascending order, are as follows: physiological, security, love and belongingness, self-respect, and self-actualization . Each of these needs details a very important issue in motivation inside the classroom and out.

ORIGINALITY:

.I presume that by acting you are trying to suggest that the teacher needs to be flamboyant, stylish, give the feeling of knowing all or having the gift of the gab. Let me tell you honestly that even a kid can make out in a few days whether you really care for them and to what extent you know your subject. They are all blessed with this sixth sense.

You cannot hide your true self for long. Like you rightly put it, it is totally against my personal value systems also.

According to me the qualities of an excellent teacher are, the subject expertise, innovativeness, impartial by nature, respecting each student for what he is, being firm but polite, disciplinarian, creating trust in the students that you will take care of them, having a good sense of humour, and last but not the least dedication towards the profession.
