Hi, I'm new here!!!

Hi Everybody!

I’m new here on eduFire (I just signed up 30 minutes ago!) I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce myself and say “hi.”

I’ve been tutoring about 18 years now. I have tutored everything from German language to Calculus, Physics and SAT prep. I received my BA in Physics with honors from Harvard, and an MA from Harvard in Chinese Studies. I was, at one time, fluent in German and Mandarin, and am still basically functional in English! (Kidding…. I’m a native English speaker.)

This is the first time I wll try on-line tutoring. It seems like a great idea, and the technology finally seems to have caught up to the idea! My main specialities are math and science, so I am really looking forward to the time eduFire expands to include those subjects.

I’d love to hear from any tutors who have been here for a while—- how are things going for you? Do you have any advice as to how I can find new students?

Welcome to the wonderful Edufire family… once upon a time, long ago…I wan new here too…lol…

Actually, I’ve been here for a while, and tutoring, which I enjoy very much!!
To get new students, be active on the forums, promote ourself on craiglist, use the badges on any site you own (blog, facebook or any other) and be around as mush as possible…
I may aply for math tutoring when we get there..I’m a disaster and I need to be able to help my son with his homework!!! lol…

Have fun and if you need any help, just holler…I’ll come right away to the rescue!!!! lol

Be sure to promote your profile url all over the web, just make sure you are not too Spammy. Place an ad on Craig’s Lists, and be sure to include your eduFire url. You can also create some wonderful videos and post them on You Tube, and be sure to add one to your profile here as well. The visual aid really sets Tutors apart when a student is searching through all wonderful Tutors here. Creating a video is a great way to showcase your talent, give potential students a free sampler. It is also a great way to implement your personality and allow potential students too see that you will make it fun, and educational. Forum activity and a complete profile can help you stand out as well.

Be sure to create a custom signature that links to your eduFire url when you are posting in online communities. Just be sure that you are allowed to do so.
