Oh good! :) |
I was just wondering for the people who are confused with what time their class starts is this a good site to check before attending a class? |
Hi Kenneth, welcome to eduFire :) Thanks for the link. Just so you know, all classes start in your own local time zone as long as your profile time zone is set correctly. |
thank you for informing me :) i would have been confused still if it had it not been for me thinking that i had to check the time of the class before commiting to attend it. |

I would like to send out a monthly email discussing (among other things) the classes I’m offering the next month. Is there a method that this can be done from within EduFire? The other option would be to do it using GMail, and setting up a mail group. |
Well, they would have to sign up for the class. So you would have to offer them first. Then you could message all who signed up. However, people might not sign up for your classes until a week before they start. So, any previous messages you sent won’t be received by them. I suggest keeping a list instead of students who come to your classes. Then you could message them. Another option would be to set up a group, and maybe you could message that way to all in that group. I don’t join groups like that, so I am not certain, but I would assume that option is already in place. If not, edufire should look into it. |

Set up your own Mailing List |
For any class that you have held, if you click on that class in your Profile, you will see a menu pick in the “Class Settings” box in the top right corner that says “Contact participants”. If your context requires only that you mail those students, then this will work. If you want to mail every student you’ve had for any course, then I believe you will have to do the work…. |

Is the Facebook badge earned by becoming a fan of the EduFire Facebook page? Or for posting the link to your facebook page on your EduFire profile? Or either/both? |
Sarah I think it is for posting the link to your facebook page. But just to let you know it sometimes takes a couple of hours before your badge shows up on your profile page. Welcome to eduFire! |

Thanks Ron. Now, I’ve got another question…. What’s the difference between the “monitoring topic” and the “following topic” options for forum topics? |
Hi Sarah! Ron again…. The monitor Topic option allows one to have email notifications sent when someone posts a new comment in forum threads that may interest him or her. Once I respond to a forum thread such as this one eduFire automatically alerts me when other community members add a comment. However, suppose I did not wish to leave a comment but I am interested in learning what others may have written. If I click the follow checkbox then eduFire will send me email alerts when others post new information to the thread. Hope this helps! |
Ron, i do admire your intelligence and your hyper mental activities |

Thanks. Though, actually, my question was about the difference between the option to monitor a topic, which you can do by clicking that little check-box at the top, and the option to follow a topic, which you can do by clicking on the set button. Or is it the same thing, and it just uses different language? |
Hi Sarah! I have noticed that if you choose to follow a topic and then hit the Set Button it changes to read Monitoring Topic. Perhaps someone in the site’s admin team can correct me if I am wrong, but the term text changes to ‘Monitoring Topic’ so that the user will realize that some change has been made. If you return to the same forum topic later it will read Following Topic with the checkbox set to true. There is no difference in what is happening, if I am correct in my assumption. The text is changed when the Set Button is pushed just to indicate the change in status. |

I have a question about webcam not coming on in the platform — as in seeing only a black screen when the system seems to think I’m on webcam. I’ve been reading the Adobe troubleshooting, but it doesn’t tell me enough. |
Karen…. maybe your webcam isn’t compatible with Adobe Flash Player…. it was the case for some of my students…. you can check on this link : http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_16453&sliceId=1 Good luck! ;-) |

Hello! I tried to send a message and the system responded: “There was an error (666) in sending your message. Please contact technical support.” |
Hey Martin, has this just started? |
Yes. Right before I posted the message. |
I got your messages. I’ll reply now. |
