title said it all. :) |

Hi Arden, It’s a new feature which is being tested at the moment so you’ll occasionally see references to it dotted around the site. Watch this space for the launch! |
Hey, is there still time to change the name to edupass? |
Reasoning here |
http://blog.edufire.com/edufire-superpass/ I wonder why all the teachers didn’t receive an announce about this feature. |
Well they did for those that attended the Tutor Town Halls. |
@Marzia, it hasn’t been launched yet so that’s why no announcement. As soon as it’s ready, everybody and their dog will know. :)) |
@Marzia It’s because we’re still fleshing things out and debugging stuff to make sure it works once it’s on the live servers. We’ll make an official announcement once we feel like it’s ready to go live live, though there are little bits and pieces of it to be found around the site for those with the Marzia Eagle Eye (sounds like another badge, no?) |
We work in tandem :) Koichi, you and I should have a badge for being spiritually linked in the timing of our posts. :)) |
I will work on a “spiritually linked in the forums” badge for both of us ;) |
I am quite confused. The thing wasn’t launched but there are some Superpass classes….? |
So SuperPass is live right now but we haven’t officially “launched” in the sense of having announced it here, in the newsletter, blog, etc. The reason is we want to have a good number of SuperPass classes available before we do. The good news is that you guys rock and there is already dozens of SuperPass classes available. If anyone wants to subscribe you can do so here although we’ll continue to keep this low-profile for a bit more until we have our official coming out party! :) |

the secretses you know! |
I made one of my classes part of the SuperPass program, I think its a very smart thing to do, I think I might sign up myself so I can take some German classes! |
Thumbs up for early adopters! :) Speaking of which, just downloaded dev version of Chrome for Mac. Good stufff. |

“My Precious” is gone now. Starts coughing and you hear something that sounds like “gollum” |

Great concept team… Quick question: Just wondering on how the dynamics of hourly rates move? Why would the student sign up for a class priced $30/ hour if he can join “n” classes at $29. Another question; If Mair from UK, I from NY and a friend from India were to lets say offer 24 hour math tutorials for a flat fee; could that work? I’d like to see more pricing ideas like these evolve…. |

Thanks Kamal! Teachers have the ability to opt out of SuperPass for any or all of their classes. If your class is priced at $35 then yeah, you most likely wouldn’t want to SuperPass it. However, what we’ve seen is that a lot of the classes fall into the $5-$15/session range and at that price point it probably makes the most sense to include as part of SuperPass because you’ll make more money overall. The SuperPass amount paid per teachers varies from month to month but for June I can say it is $3.51 per student per session. So if you get 10 SuperPass students in a class you will be paid $35.10 for that class at the end of the month. This may take a bit to get used to but we feel that over time it’s going to be in the best interests of both the students and the teachers. The group class idea is quite a bit different. As of right now we don’t have any plans to offer that but if there’s enough demand it’s something we can look into. |
I’m planning on only letting my cheaper classes be part of the superpass pool. |
@ Thanks Jon. Just bouncing the thought (group class) that came to my head… @ Dave, true. Makes sense and making students may some amount may help attendance rates…. |
Also the pricing seems fabulous. Hopefully, as word spreads you should attract lots of students. |

The only potential problem I see now is how edufire figures the amount tutors are paid. I would like to see it based on the previous attendance or the number of subscriptions. Since the more people who are subscribed or are using superpass == more money in our pockets then we tutors will promote it even more. Also the line “pay as you go” in the description is kind of ambiguous. I would be wary if I was new to edufire because the line may imply something different than what was promoted. But then I’m kind of paranoid about Internet fraud and watch for marketing traps in anything I don’t already trust. Maybe if you specified “only pay each month you use it” it would avoid a noob’s nervousness. http://edufire.com/subscriptions Over all, it sounds like a good way to promote the classes. |
maybe it would be a good idea to say ‘unlimited classes – one month trial’ too – at the moment you could read it as being unlimited classes for ever for $1….what a bargain! |
Thank you for the feedback! I’ve passed it along to the person who has control of the pages! |
Yup, great feedback guys. This is definitely going to be an evolving service for us. We think that over time this will be a big win for teachers and, as several of you have already pointed out, a potential great deal for students as well. We’re trying to be as flexible with this as possible and to the extent that you guys have concerns, suggestions, etc. please be vocal with them. We’re very excited to watch this grow! |
