Hi Swarna,

I am a little bit like Elisabeth. I watched so many of SRK movies that I started to be able to tell when subtitles were not accurate.
So far the movies I have seen:(all within the last 3 months). My favorite ones are marked with a *
- Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi *
- Don *
- Asoka *
- Paheli *
- Chalte Chalte *
- Hum Tumhare Hain Sanan *
- Veer-Zaara
- Dil Se
- Kal Ho Naa Ho
- Karan Arjun
- Om Shanti Om
- Koyla
- Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman
- Zamaana Deewana
- Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
- Chak De! India *
- Swades
- Hey Ram
- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
- Baadshah
- Yes Boss
As you can see all of these movies starred SRK…..lol
My next 2 movies should be Devdas and
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Thank you Netflix! lol

I’ve also seen Jodha Akbar which I adored.
That’s it for now but I do intend to go on watching as many Bollywood movies as I can.
I must say that newer movies are more interesting to me than older ones.
Got to go! Bye for now!

You seem to be a SRK fan Melinda, but strange that you did not like Veer-Zaara as much. I think it is a good movie with good songs.

Do give your opinions on Devdaas also when you have watched it. I like the songs of Devdas. May be you should also watch the old Devdas [Dilip Kumar] but that is not made as large scale as this one.

And yes you may feel that new movies are more interesting than old ones but there are some [not all] very good old movies too. But definitely it depends on personal choice. I would recommend “Mughal – e – Azam”, Chupke Chupke, Golmaal some Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar movies also. Try watching a few of them.

P.S. Chupke Chupke and Golmaal are comedy movies and very interesting :)

Melinda – good lord, and i thought i was bollywood crazy…. you’ve watched all of those SRK’s in the last 3 months? WOW, i think i’m impressed… lol I’ve ordered Jokha Akbar a couple of times, but i’ve never had time to watch it… i keep sending it back b/c i’ve had it for so long… and yes, i know with Netflix it doesn’t matter, but then i feel bad for everyone else waiting…

I see you listed what you’ve seen and those that you liked best, but are there any in the list that you didn’t like??

Hi Elisabeth,

I got hooked on Bollywood through my best friend and I discovered a wonderful world, very colorful and charming, plus I love languages and Hindi is very interesting and quite challenging! lol!
Regarding Jodha Akbar, I saw it with Netflix Instant Download on my computer. I highly recommend it, I am sure you are going to love it!
As for the movies I have seen, I must say that there are a few of them that bored me.
I didn’t really enjoy Zamana Deewana and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and I had trouble watching Hey Ram till the end even though the story was interesting, historically speaking.
I really want to see Devdas and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna but it seems its availabilities are unknown for the moment. Have you seen them?
My best friend in France told me she would send it to me for my Christmas because she is sure I am going to love them….lol
Anyhow, take care and “talk to you soon”

Yes, I did enjoy it a lot, it was very sad even though there is a good ending to it…..but all those years lost, spent in jail to protect his loved one….what a pity!!!
It was a different role I think, for SRK. And the music was beautiful. Main Yahaan Hoon is one of my favorite Hindi songs.

@ Swarna – Loved Veer-Zaara! i cried like a baby the first time i saw it and every time thereafter!!! LOL

@ Melinda – you will like Devdas – there are 2 versions, the older one and the newer SRK version. I suggest seeing both. I haven’t seen KANK. Is that the one with Rani Mukerji and Abishek Bachchan??

I saw Veer-Zaara and also thought it was very moving with beautiful songs. Preita Zinta is not a very good dancer, but she is so cute, I forgive her all trifles. When she is well-cast she does a good job.

The Devdas with SRK and Aish was very lush and some of the songs are lovely but something about it annoyed me. I didn’t believe the love story between SRK and Aish (who is a terrible actress but a lovely performer imo) and it just seemed to drag on and on. It was a good message movie against drunkenness thought I guess – lol.

An actress and performer I really like who was in Devdas is Madhuri Dixit. She is in one of my favorite Bollywood movies, Hum Aapke Hai Koun and in Dil with Aamir Khan and a lot of other movies. She is always great – an amazing dancer. I also like her in Sajaan with Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

LOVE Aamir Khan. One of my faves of his is Raja Hindustani with Karishma Kapoor (also a very good actress) which has a very dramatic romantic story line and great dancing and songs. Mangal Pandey doesn’t have much dancing but it is one of his greats. I like it better than Lagaan, which was very popular in the west. Similar themes.

One could go on and on about SRK films so I won’t. I will say that Badshaah is extremely funny though and my teenage American sons even know some of the sons and like to dance like SRK when he is doing the blind man dance in that hotel TOTAL HOOT!

I have not seen a lot of the recent Hindi films but I have seen a lot of the dance numbers because I watch a weekly show called Namaste America which features Bollywood videos and gossip as well as Indian news.

@ Melinda, its not right that SRK’s latest movies only have been his best. Among his early movies “Baazigar” was a big hit and even others like “Darr”, “Deewana”, “Karan Arjun” have been hit.

@Elizabeth – yes KANK – Kabhi Alvidaa naa Kehna has Priety, Rani and Abhishek.

@ Alfia, you are right that there is a long list of SRK movies and also other actors like Salman and Aamir. A new movie of Aamir Khan is coming soon, titled “3 idiots”.

@ Eddie, I have not watched these two movies but I have recently watched Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani, its a love story with lot of comedy. If anyone wants to check it out here are the trailers .
