Hello everyone! I just published an article about Filipino (Tagalog). It has a lot of information about the language and might help you decide if you really want to learn the language or not. You might be also just curious about the language… so here it is! Hope you like it~ |

Very interesting! Glad I read it. In Winnipeg, where I live, Tagalog is one of the most spoken languages after English and French. You said that out of 95 million inhabitants or so, only 22 million speak Tagalog as a first language. If I encounter Filipinos in Winnipeg, though they would most likely have some knowledge of Tagalog, what language or dialect are they most likely to speak with family and friends? Could you also quickly expand on the differences between the words Filipino, Pilipino and Tagalog as refering to language? |

Hi Alexandre. Filipinos are globally jetsetters. They love to travel and cross the Pacific ocean to meet relatives on the other side, to find greener pasture, or to migrate to a different soothing environment etc. A Filipino is a native of Philippines. Tagalog is the local dialect used in the Philippines. Pilipino is the Tagalog word for Filipino and other local dialects. Have a great time learning Tagalog coz Filipinos are very warmth, friendly and very chatty – so easy to blend in. You will love them. |
