So, you’re interested in pursuing the visual arts? Are you wanting to learn how to draw, paint, design on the computer, and beyond?

Well, everyone has to start somewhere! :) I’m offering a foundations class for FREE, which includes in-depth discussion on the basic principles and elements of art. Color theory, line, composition, form, value, texture… all are important building blocks for the future structure of your artistic center.

Join me on Friday, June 12th at 5:00pm CDT for this educational class on making art!

Laura, don’t get disappointed. I know its frustrating, but, you’ll learn to live with it.

In my free classes, I needed to have 20 – 25 people sign up, in order to have 4 or 5 attend.

Now with the superpass, I have a perfect attendance of 0.

I find it really disrespecte when students don’t show up. A teacher puts time in the classes preparing everything and stuff for only few students to attend. i find that’s really mean. That’s why when i think that i might not make it to a class i don’t sing up for it or if do sing up and don’t make it i send the teacher a message explaining why i didn’t make it. Don’t get disappointed or frustrated about that. if student’s don’t show up for the class is THERE LOST missing a great class cuz i know your classes are good.-
i wish i had time to make it to your class cuz it seem really interested but i had another one.

btw srry for my bad english >.<

Rox and Enrique, thanks for the messages, cheered me up a little. :) Rox you’re such a wonderful student and your English is good! I’m sure to offer this again in the future, or, if you really wish you can message me if interested in watching the recorded session. :D

It’s all in the promotion and the way you market your classes! Really get into it and have fun! I’m still just starting out in my teaching career on edufire and so far have 5 students (who are faithful to attend, thanks guys :)) Just to let you know that it’ll take some considerable time and effort to get the word out to ppl about your class. (I’m still working on some of the basics of marketing!) Keep up the good work! :D

I just figure that if people click register, they’re interested in attending, and I do promote my class around the block (just not aggressively because they’re free). Then they don’t show up. The least they could do is drop it beforehand, or give me a message later explaining why they didn’t attend.

Laura. Take NO SHOWS as part of the business, no more no less. DO NOT take it personal.
Ahh, and consider it when you create a class. Keep in mind that not all signed up, will attend. I recommend that you open more seats than you really want. In my case, I open 20 – 25 seats in order to get 4-5 attendees

@Laura, no shows are all over. Even my brother has that problem in his car repair shop (people calling, asking how much his service is, and saying they will be by in an hour or two but never showing up). At least he can write it off as “window shopping”.

Thanks Enrique. I never thought of limiting the seats even though it’s always been staring me in the face. I always hit the default (99?) which might make the student think “I’ll do it tomorrow, no urgency, there are 98 seats left after all”.

Dave, I also open the seats as the fill up. This way I can screen the participants. I open seats in sets of 3’s.

I ask my students to call me before enrolling. Most don’t do it.

Even doing all this, the NO SHOW rate is sky high. I’ve seen students enrolled in 1, 2, even 3 classes at the same time
