The Rosetta Stone was a slab of Basalt bearing an inscription in 3 languages, It was significant because one of the languages was familiar thereby giving a basis for the others to be understood.

The term “Rosetta Stone” has since been used as a metaphor to refer to anything that is a critical key to a process of decryption, translation, or a difficult problem.
Your rosetta stone once deciphered and understood gives you answers to your inner being, Gemstones help you unravel the mysteries of your world.
Are you ready to experience the excitement of the journey to your Rosetta Stone

You are invited to Join the discussion and begin to learn the language of gemstones and crystals.
Take part in the discussion here and add your comments and questions. Questions will be addressed in the class. Have a experience to share, I would LOVE to hear and I bet others would as well.

Basalt encourages compassionate detachment and supports anyone going through intense changes. (Like unraveling the mysteries of your physical experience) It also assists with emotional tranquility, stability and patience.( the feelings that you are likely to have once you have unraveled the mystery) It offers a sense of wellbeing and peace.
It helps to allow creativity to flow through the user. (One would need to be creative to understand the message) It is protective and deflects negativity.( Protecting the message that it carried) It is associated with the Third Chakra (solar plexus.) – ( The message that it held dealt with power during that time)

Gems are around us everywhere. This is an example of the users unwittingly or maybe intentionally using a stone that served its purpose VERY well!
Interesting connection eh!

Thank you… I am really excited about the upcoming class and am gathering material for the series. My Question to everyone is… What stone was in the last piece of jewelry that you bought just because you liked the piece, not because it matched an outfit or because it was a good investment but because you couldn’t get your mind off it so you decided to “treat” yourself. You would be surprise what that choice may have to say about you and your journey!
For the guys— who may not have a jewelry selection… what about what stone are you drawn to… when you see stones or jewels what attracts your attention…. if you don’t know the names of the stones… just window shop at a rock shop or a jewelry store and see what attracts your attention. Whatever it is… ask the store owner what the name of the stone is…If you’re lucky they will be able to give you the name without trying too hard to “sell” you.

I had a lady in England make a piece very similar to this for me a few years ago. The stone is the same.

The stone is Bolder Opal… the energy of bolder opal is more vibrational than physical. Mostly it helps one to be more grounded and down to earth when making decisions and choices. If it was set in silver it would help you to be receptive to input of advice that would help you to decide. If set in gold it would be helpful to prod and encourage you to do what it takes and take action toward your desired outcome. Platinum gives an boost toward to outside intellectual insight in the decision making process.
Usually those drawn to bolder opal are wanting to be more decisive and connected when they are considering options. They are concerned with seeing all sides of an issue and being aware of all possibilities.

What a beautiful stone. I love bolder opal both for its looks and its energy.

As for why this is so -Opals are primarily silica Oxide . One study which followed subjects for 15 years found that higher levels of silica in water appeared to decrease the risk of dementia. The study found that the risk of dementia dropped by 11%.
Since dementia has to do with decreased cognitive function and enhanced cognition happens with the use of silica in water I can see the connection between opals and a grounded and thoughtful decision process.

It is set in set in gold. I wish I still had it. I gave it away as a gift about a year after I bought it to someone who I should have wasted my time on. Hopefully it helps stop her dementia, though I think she is to far gone for it to matter. :) Bad memories. Sorry.

Sounds like I could use Basalt right now.
The last piece of jewelry that I bought was a jade neclace in the shape of a dolphin. It was a low quality jade since the neclace was very inexpensive but I liked it because I love dolphins and I like jade. Though jade is not my favorite gemstone that would be emerald and my favorite crystal is rose quartz.

Hi Tracey, Dolphins remind us to be playful and to let life unfold as it should…. native american totem definition…. Jade if it actually was jade has the energy of restoring life force energy to the physical body…. much of the stone things that is called jade is actually quartz particularily if it was rather inexpensive. I would have to see it to be sure.
Emerald restores health and vitality and rose quartz deals with self love inner peace and self fulfillment.
I can’t wait to see what your mini reading turns up in the class… It seems that there is a keen focus on restoring and maintaining the life force for you. This is often a characteristic of one who has had and energy sapping encounter whether that be emotional, physical or energetic. your attraction to the dolphin is a reminder that all is well and the rose quartz helps you to stay on track of being your own best friend and support.

Hello Alaia and everyone, I love crystal healing! I would like to share a spoiler fact here regarding the nature of the rosetta though: since I deal with geologists every single day, I have to say that rosetta stone was once (yes) believed to be made from basalt, but testes have shown that the stone is actually more close in composition to a granite. It always has been.

Now answering the question from our beautiful healer Alaia: What stone was in the last piece of jewelry that you bought just because you liked the piece….." My answer is: gee, I have to think because stones always want to come home with me. : ) I can tell you that citrine is always my fav!

Cheers and join Alaia’s class. : )

Greetings Edufirians (is that a word) and Angela:
Thank you for bringing your spoiler that is not a spoiler to the discussion. First please allow me to clarify… I am not a geologist however I do have many as my suppliers and we have had many in-depth discussions between the knowledge gained in the class room and in the field surrounding the names of certain stones and how that compares to the field of crystalology. It is an easy way to derail the intuitive nature of Gemstones for healing… So…. Lets clarify… Basalt and Granite are both igneous stones. They are both volcanic in nature… The biggest difference is from the standpoint of their formation. .Their mineral ratios are somewhat different but the minerals contained in each of them is relatively the same. Simply put Basalt is iron rich and silica poor and granite is silica rich and iron poor If you are building a house a piece of furniture i.e. a counter top or a floor this is a significant difference because of wear and performance. When you are dealing with the use of gemstones for healing this is an entirely different matter . Gemstones are effective because of the vibrational and mineralogical components found in them Essentially for healing purposes Basalt and Granite are interchangeable…. In the case of whether the Rosetta Stone is Basalt or granite. Form a healers stance it is a moot point. The mineral content while in different ratios is the same therefore the effect of the energy signature of the stone is the same. From the research I have been able to gather the jury is still out as to whether it is basalt or granite because it seems to be some of both so they are considering a still different name of granodiorite which by geological definition is a homogenous blend of Granite and Basalt with a little mica thrown in… Even so it still has the same mineral content just in different proportions… Therefore the energetic information that I provided for the rosetta stone at the beginning of this thread remains correct.

In response to your comment of what stone or piece of jewelry had you bought just because you liked it - There is a distinct difference between purchasing stones for resale and personal use so while I deal with many stones daily seldom do I choose a stone or piece of jewelry for myself. I am keenly aware that when I am choosing stones for my shop or with an eye to value it is because of the client who through “Law of Attraction” has put out a “call” for that stone and I am answering that call. This is entirely different from choosing for myself. It took years of practice before I learned to make the distinction so I understand your answer ;-) As for Citrine being your stone of choice I am sure that you are aware that the energy of citrine has to do with the appropriate use of personal power and being aware of the affect of your words actions and choices on those that you are associated with and with whom you interact personally and professionally… Citrine helps the wearer to be appropiate and considerate in their interactions and to maintain balance.
Depending on your personal relationship to money for some individuals it also serves to enhance the ability to attract money. This is usually for those individuals who feel that having money is a means of having power and control over others. I don’t sense that is the case with you.
Thank you for your endorsement of the class…. It is always good to expand ones knowledge base and learn about different modalities so I look forward to your next class as well Angela…
This is going to be a fun class everyone as you can tell from this post and the one that it is in response to there are many nuances to the field of Gems and Minerals so I am looking forward to seeing you there.
Blessings
Alaia

@Alaia: exactly and thank you for adding to the basalt/granite formation. With citrine I always experiment some sort of a positive synesthesia. : ) And again, thank you for the input Alaia.

ones knowledge base and learn about different modalities so I look forward to your next class as well Angela…

Sounds good. : )

I’m wondering about Alaia’s question:what stone was in the last piece of jewelry that she bought just because she liked the piece…. : )

Cheers

In answer to your question Angela – What stone or piece of jewelry have I recently bought or do I use:
My favorite talisman combination to wear is moldavite, zincite and herkimer diamond set in gold. the energy of this combination is as follows:
moldavite – accelerates and enhances spiritual growth and the assimilation of spiritual information – I seem to have been on a quest for spiritual knowledge since I was a very young child. It has been my experience that when I wear this combination I do seem to be able to retain the information better and information seems easier to find or should I say it finds me…. ;-)
Zincite- assists the wearer in maintaining healthy and productive relationships. This seems to be very necessary in my work as a coach, a lecturer and in my personal interactions. I find that when I am wearing the talisman I seem to be able to be more empathetic and compassionate.
Herkimer Diamond – Helps the wearer to access the inner realms of dream-time and to understand dreams and intuition. My work makes it necessary often to go within to access information and then relay that to clients, I find the herkimer diamond to be of great assistance.
Gold – Attracts wealth and well being as well as allowing one to do what is necessary to accomplish ones goals.
In combination this particular talisman is a life essence piece for me and helps me to maintain my goals for spiritual growth and spiritual pursuits, while being aware of my relationships both personal and professional. I am aided in accessing inner knowing through dream-time and meditation to be able to bring forth the things that I have learned to share with my clients, friends and acquaintances.
Often times a life talisman will consist of three or more stones that strengthen and assist in creating outcome over the lifetime of the wearer. These are usually created especially for the wearer by a Crystalologist after a consult and the idea is that it is a “touch” stone for the individual to remind them of their goals and strengths and to impart whatever trace minerals and energetic assist that will further their vision.

Everyone: I received a note from one class participant who had a very interesting experience with rose quartz… we will address it in the class… please share your stone experiences…. nothing is too strange… disappearing stones, stones changing color, “different” physical manifestations after wearing a particular piece….
I look forward to your shares….
Blessings
Alaia

The last piece of Jewlery I bought was my Class Ring. It is a ring that’s offered to Juniors or Seniors in High School. Not sure exactly why, but my ring consists of White Gold(It looks silver but it’s actually white gold), and on the top is a peridot stone, separated in half by the words “Bears” and around the peridot is CZ Diamonds.

Hello all….. I guess Im the newbie here…. lol… as it has been a LONG time since I bought myself a piece of jewelry let alone a healing crystal or stone…..I have no answer to your question as I dont really know….

I believe my birthstone is Opal…(Oct. 10th)….. but I have always felt drawn to the pink and purple healing crystals at the health food stores I frequent… heehee….. I love those colors… and I always admire those stones when I see them….. I remember back in high school I wore a small clear/white crystal….. I felt it provided protection, and healing/ balance that I needed during that particular time in my life.

I havent owned a stone since then.

I am excited to learn more about all this. I am also very excited to find out what stone is a good match for me… =) I am wanting to purchase a crystal for myself that will help with keeping positive, healthy energy flowing….. and that is something I can use when testing my body for those things it may or may not need….. does that make sense?? …lol.

ANyways…. looking forward to the class!

@Lance Thanks for joining in here…. your class ring is very beneficial for you…. The white gold deals with direct action and doing what it takes to accomplish your goals. Peridot is generally associated with action as well and specifically the “right” action necessary to move forward. CZ is a man- made stone and as such doesn’t have a vibe but serves to enhance the appearance of the piece. For a class ring, a talisman of passage these characteristics are very appropriate. During the class we will address how to cleanse your talisman pieces so they work even better.
@Jess – WOW there’s lots for you … we will be addressing why we are drawn to certain colors and stones and how to go about choosing what to have as a talisman. Also why a talisman might be better than “just a crystal” and how to use tools to assist in the choosing.
I look forward to seeing you both
A

If you think this class is something you want and you would like me to do it again… shoot me a note.
There will also be a super pass series 6 sessions covering individualized aspects of crystal Healing and Crystalology….
The countdown is started 8 more days! ;-)

Hi, Alaia;

In the post earlier in this thread, you’re referring to boulder opal, the one that occurs in ironstone, aren’t you?

Alaia Leighland Alaia Leighland ** 345 post(s)

Mail-reply-senderSend Message

@ julian – Most often the matrix of the opal commonly known as boulder is ironstone. Actually the matrix of most opal is ironstone, however with boulder opal the matrix is used with the opal and creates a unique pattern. It is desirable in rings and bracelets because it is more sturdy than opal that has been removed from the matrix.

Yes, in matrix boulder opal, the opal can form interesting patterns, as opposed to seam boulder opal, where the intrusion into the matrix forms a sheet that lends itself to being split into two mirror faces. Gemology and geology – fascinating stuff!

My inquiry was more to clarify whether your reference to “bolder” opal was a jargonistic use from the mystical/spiritual side of gem/stone/crystal studies.

Thanks for your response!

Julian – I tend to combine the gemology, geology and crystalology when possible so that there is a comprehensive understanding of why the “mystical/ spiritual” side is valid. It all is intertwined and works together. One part supports the other.
My mom whom I learned the mystical side from as well as the Shamanic guide that I learned about herbology from often said that “the environment around us contains everything for the physiology to survive and thrive if we only knew how to use it.”
I find it fascinating how much the “folk” remedies are based in science.
Sometimes the practitioners in Metaphysics joke that science is finally catching up with the spiritual world. It is interesting that now science is “proving” that the things that were done in ancient times are valid.
Thanks for your question…. I am doing a series in the gemstone work that is being offered as a Superpass if you’re interested. here is the link
