I know it’s old news but now that WhiteHouse.gov has switched to Drupal, I probably should be firing-up my Drupal classes again.

If you had a chance to learn something about the Drupal CMS, what would it be? What the hell is Drupal and why is it called a CMS? What’s a CMS? How to install Drupal? How to create a wiki with Drupal? How to create a brochure site with Drupal?

Might want to explain what Drupal is?

From their web site:
Drupal is a free software package that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Tens of thousands of people and organizations are using Drupal to power scores of different web sites.

Drupal does everything from web sites to photo gallery, e-commerce, etc.

Thank you. I sometime forget that not everybody knows this product even though it can save someone who wants a web-site hundreds or thousands of dollars.

The Drupal community is excited. Imagine if Obama sent Malia and Sasha to edufire. Who knows, one day you might come to edufire and find secret service agents posed at the front page.

Maybe I should start a class in jargon, techno-speak, and computese.

Not a bad idea, Dave.

uh!huh…. K….
….can somebody ‘splain me what’s this is about and what’s it mean to us?
maybe the class in jargon is the place to start;-)

Let’s see; I can have a class on spelling from 3l337 (eleet or elite) and hacker forums (I PWN U), colloquial uses from .alt IRC channels (beep), grammar from LOLcats (“I can has cheezburger”) or RPN (“speak I do”, “example this is”) or Yoda (“Named must your fear be before banish it you can”).

added after I saw Alaia’s post:

@Alaia; giving classes in Drupal is how I planned on making money here (my profile name = Drupal_Tutor). The more publicity Drupal gets, the better off I am.

Also, I just put a skeleton shopping cart up in one day last week so I could focus on the pricing markups. Next I will work on automatically importing cost updates from vendors and taking credit card payments.

I am interested in learning Drupal, also “a class in jargon, techno-speak, and computese.” is a great idea.

I’ll be scheduling a free introductory class in Drupal soon.

As far as the jargon class I’m still mulling over just what I would cover.
