Hello all, I just finished compiling material for my first class: “Taoism, An Overview.” As so far, I’ve only just finished the first lesson, but if there is interest, I hope to expand it to a four-session course: 1: Taoism, An Overview In the first lesson, we will study the history of the philosophical school, its major figures, and take a short dip into its mystical waters, discussing the core tenets of Taoism based on brief excerpts from its main texts. No prior knowledge of Taoism nor philosophy in general is necessary, and I encourage all with an interest to attend! Before I schedule this introductory lesson, I wanted to receive some feedback on scheduling: what sort of time / day of the week would work best for those with an interest? I think I will schedule two separate sessions of the “Overview” lesson to begin with, and then we can go from there! Thanks for taking the time to read (and respond)! Joe C |

I will be very interested in this course! I did an analysis on Zhuang Zi 庄子(in Chinese of course) when I was writing my thesis for my Masters but more on his literature works being influenced by Taoism. Looking forward to your class if I the schedule is right for me.:D |

Hello everyone, Thanks for expressing interest! I’ll collect a few more time suggestions from people and try to work around them to schedule the session(s). @Claire— Zhuangzi (or Chuang-Tse, as I learned it) is one of the guys we’re covering! I love his playful, paradoxical style of writing. The two texts we’re examining are the “Inner Chapters” of his, and of course Lao-Tse / Laozi’s “Tao Te Ching”. I hope you’ll attend and bring your special expertise and insight to this subject! |
