Hey there! Thanks for checking out my profile. Unfortunately at this time, I am not offering classes due to a busy summer period. I might be able to fit in some private one-to-one lessons though, so drop me a line if you are interested :).

For one-to-one lessons, you will need to have at least a microphone and, if possible, a webcam.

For one-to-many sessions, there will be the opportunity to speak, so again, I recommend you have a microphone.

I can tailor-make classes to suit your needs exactly and can teach both basic and intermediate Japanese. In real-world terms this will usually mean JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) levels 4, 3 and some of JLPT level 2.

Background:

In 2009 I graduated with a First Class BA Honours degree in Japanese and Philosophy at the University of Leeds in the UK.

I have passed the highest level 1級 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and have been to Japan 4 different times, staying for a total time of around 2 years with host families and in exchange and volunteer programs at University and a care home. I also won the UK Japanese Speech Contest for University students last year in February (My winning the 2008 Japanese Speech Contest).

Recently I am working in Japan as a Co-ordinator of International Relations during various translation work and promoting multicultural understanding. I also write articles on Japan and bioluminescence over on my website at gakuranman.com. Please feel free to drop by and say hello.
