Ethnography
I humbly welcome the new group members here. I hope you realize how useful it is to always monitor all things in relation to Filipinos.
Welcome dito sa ating grupi Junard, at sana’y yong layunin natin ay puro buti lamang. Kailangan nating pag-ibayuhin pa ang pag-aaral ng 7 pang pangunahing wika ng ating bansa. We need to learn the seven other major dialects to further introduce Philippines to the world.

Welcome Kris, and Liesl. Though I’m a little bit oldie here for I am already going to be 7 year older as internet surfer, still I’m a newbie. So, buwan ng wikang pambansa na bukas ang pagbukas nito inasmuch as former Philippine Manuel Luis Quezon is the father of the National Language. Ngayon, ano ba ang ating gagawin mga kawika?
Mabuti naman po akao, salamat…kumusta naman kaya ang iabng mga guro dito? mukhang abala talaga sila sa pagtuturo. …
Welcome to this group Mike, and may you enroll to the free classes offered by my colleagues here, though most of use haven’t met in person. Elsa is my friend and she can teach you either my native tongue, Cebuano.
Glad to have found this community. I’m Canadian, but I have a bit of Pinoy in my heart — I love the Philippines. Hope I can learn a bit of Tagalog while I’m here!
Hello Den and thanks for the add, by the way, how is life being a teenager Filipino? I hope we should all touch on some learning which could benefit the whole world, that is, a common unity of looking on the curtained walls of our ethnologic setting – the ethnography of Filipinos – past and present. We’ll not delve on Filipino mysticism, inasmuch as this pertains to the other aspect of culture known as the “fate of faith.” But inasmuch as the title suggests “ALL THINGS FILIPINO”, then open up your cocobank shell and let your ideas stream out.
Como esta usted? Welcome to the group Joni, what may I offer to you? Here of course, we are talking about all things Filipino, but my priority is to discuss ethnography in terms of Filipino viewpoints whether comparative, analytic or racial Filipino ethnography. So stay tune with the rest of the group members. Have some fun and enjoy, edufirian linguistry.
By 8:30 begins the parade for the celebration of Independence Day Commemoration. Memory of this event still persists in the minds of Filipino history students when in June 12, 1898, 111 years ago, First President Emilio Famy Aguinaldo proclaimed Philippine Independence from Spanish Rule. The fact that the government of America recognized our Sovereignty on July 4, 1946, still we remain dependent economically and linguistically speaking from them. And right now, the spanish language is beginning to bloom in our schools behind the japanese language special course. Anyway, Filipinos are worth dying for according to Ninoy, but for me only those Filipinos who are really worth dying for. Welcome to our group, Rochelle. I am will never be independent from the giver of my breath, lol.
Okay ito ah, John may I welcome you to our All Things Filipino Online Learning Group specifically studying ethnography. Greek ἔθνος ethnos = folk/people and γράφειν graphein = writing (provided by en.wikipedia.org ) . www.dictionary.com says: a branch of anthropology dealing with the scientific description of individual cultures. It is also that branch of knowledge which has for its subject the characteristics of the human family, developing the details with which ethnology as a comparative science deals; descriptive ethnology.
With those definitions in our minds, we may anthropologically analyze Filipino cultures, esp. in regard to their historical development and the similarities and dissimilarities between them. Formerly, Filipino ethnologists deal with the origin, distribution, and distinguishing characteristics of the Filipino culture.
But what do we mean with “Filipino Culture”? Anthropologically speaking, Filipino culture means the sum total of FIlipino ways of living built up by a group of Filipinos and transmitted from one Filipino generation to another.
I hope that culturally we will learn the totality of socially transmitted Filipino behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of Filipino work and thought. In addition, we also consider the above Filipino patterns, traits, and products as our expression of a particular period, class, community, or population. I hope we will continue to discuss Filipino things which have a common bearing in the people residing in the Philippines and also which other Filipinos living abroad will come to experience. Thanks and may we all learn together.

Welkommen, is this right Doner? Actually, I am glad that this group is composed of people who can speak different languages. In fact, I bought a German dictionary 4 years ago if I am not mistaken just because Ormoc Library has a German Grammar Books and knowing also that I have a first-degree cousin, in my father’s side, whose children are half-german-half-Filipino. But still, I am glad that Filipinos right now like the Jews of yesteryears spread throughout the world. Enjoy your stay here. I tell you all folks here that Filipinos do have good and bad qualities. Only your adjustment to Filipinos will lead you to understand that we need to open books authored not only by Filipinos who passed away already but also those which are authored by Filipinos and others peoples who were able to comprehend the psychosocial patterns of our dealings with mankind (not to mention, the supernaturalsalso.)
Welcom at maligayang bati sa inyo friends. I’m hoping sana naman share niyo yong knowledge nyo about Philippines and wish nyo for our country. If ever, specify naman ang different ethnographic features sa inyo-inyong lalawigan.
Welcome christine, and I hope that we filipinos in this group share our knowledge in Ethnography – the study of man and culture, but more profoundly in Filipino ethnography. Share what you know our Filipinos – inside and outside (individually or geographically).
