Music is one of the most effective ways to increase your proficiency in a language and to learn about a culture. In this group we talk about popular Pop, Ballad, or Pop Rock songs in Spanish from either the 80’s, 90’s, or more modern ones. They can be from just about any Spanish speaking country in the world.
If there is a particular you song you like a lot but have some difficulty understanding the lyrics, you can suggested it to feature it in a future class. If you consider yourself an intermediate or advanced Spanish student then I recommend you participate in Spanish here as much as possible.
my skype name is rhotimus I have never used skype before but i dont mind trying it
Marco,
Can you share some of the places that Edufire is advertising itself on the web? Are they using Google ads etc.? Where are our students coming from? Are they simply happening across Edufire or what?

With all of the spyware, bots, Phishing, data collectors, and trojans that are out there, you should take steps to prevent others from getting your private information. Chances are that you know someone or have personally been the victim of some type of hacking. This is the class for you.

I was noticing the other day that some tutors such as Newoka LaShelle have really cool graphics in their course descriptions. Others, have little Youtube videos as well. Since I have only been with Edufire a few months, I am wanting to put the best foot forward and present my courses as well and professionally as possible. I tried putting html in there but it did not work. Can others share these secrets or could an administrator enlighten us. I would be interested in taking a SuperTutor course to learn tricks and course enhancements as far as using the platform to its best and highest potential, especially with regard to marketing yourself.
I agree with MaryM, there should be an option for students to buy 10, 20, or 30 classes in advance and receive a discounted rate. This could be a type of superpass or bargainpass rate. The hitch would be that the students have to go ahead and register for some of the classes in advance and on the teacher side we would know that we had guaranteed students who we would be paid for whether they actually showed up or not since the pay would be for registering for the class not for attending the class. In that way, the tutor would be paid regardless. This would be guaranteed money for Edufire. No need to guess if the student will attend since when they register they use up the bargainpass voucher. Edufire feel free to use my idea!
I really like what Mark O’Hagan mentioned about advertising Edufire on college campuses. It is funny, I and several of the Spanish Knight’s group were just discussing plans for this the other day. This would be particularly effective if you have personal contacts on that campus and could actually speak to people who you know and who trust you. I am interested in more ideas about how to get the word out. Frankly, I think we are wasting effort in arguing about whether it is Edufire’s or our responsibility to market our classes. It only matters that it is within our power to tell as many people as possible and if we do then we will help everyone. The Edufire admins can not do it all regardless of what resources some may think they have. We tutors are much more powerful marketing agents since we are many people with many connections and we are directly involved and will directly reap the benefits of increased traffic.

I must agree whole-heartedly with my colleague Enrique. I have not noticed any drop in students. However, I would really like to know how many students are actively taking classes per day on the average per month. This information could be provided by email to tutors or provided on our tutor dashboard. As Enrique said, I am concerned about the drop in RPS even if it is a few cents. The RPS has been rising consistently over the last few months until November and now it goes down.
I and the “Spanish Knights group” are very eager to think of ways to attract more students to Edufire. But, I think that we are missing a great market consisting of many nations where the majority of the population does not have access to Paypal or credit cards even though they may have enough funds to pay. Until Edufire gives Chinese, Japanese, and Indian internet users a secure way to pay for Superpass, we will continue to loose their money. I was speaking to a Saudi and Moroccan student the other day in a free intro class that I held and they said that they would be excited to have the opportunity to buy Superpass but could not since they did not have a credit card or access to Paypal. Could Edufire set up another option? Mailing travelers checks, western union account, wire transfer, UPS, one of the money transfer companies for Lat. America, Bank of America transaction? Something? There has got to be a way other than paypal to get these people’s money. There are more internet users in India and China than people in the United States. Surely there is a way.
How about photographing the various steps and placing them in a powerpoint and then cooking the meal virtually.
