Glad you’re in! I hope there will be more folks joining (and adding cool stuff) soon. A note on the links I got up tonight. Audacity is an open source recording software program. Drop.io is a site that has worked well for uploading audio (that doesn’t auto-play). Librivox is one of the more established sites for open source literature in audio form, and the pdf foundation is about open source music and using music for social change. There’s also a web site that lists more open source audio software programs.

Do you know much about the far more down to earth task of making basic YouTube videos? What software would work for that without making things all blurry (which I understand happened to me because of WMM → .mp4 conversion → Flash 7 conversion)? I just had my first Japanese class, a free intro for complete beginners that worked very well, and I want this material all over the Internet in YouTube form.

It went well, for those who managed to make it. It looks like I have good reason to set up at least two regular weeknight classes (spaced out properly) for the future.

Well, it’s 45 minutes before this class starts. I’ve been asked about teaching regularly on weekdays. I have not set a schedule for that yet. I’ll be asking people about what times are good for them as students.

Thanks, Corina, Andre. I’m definitely hoping to use the Connect Pro platform through eduFire to help more people with their pronunciation. Actually, today I’m starting a new experiment and trying to teach a little Japanese for the first time.

I think that I’m going to seriously get into podcasting (and even audiobooks, possibly) and try to push my voice as far as I possibly can. I’m not perfect, but I’m better than most, and that will have to do as a starting point.

Still accepting students! I’m glad my first Japanese tutoring class is garnering attention, but the Book of Five Rings is still great, great stuff, and I really am looking forward to presenting this to an audience of people interested in greater success. Of course, I’m still working on my own success, but I’m inspired by everyone here on this website.

I like this post :)!

So, you see motivation as solely an external force? I never thought of it as only external, and I tend to get motivated by goals I set for myself.

As a parent, I’ve often tried to find ways to motivate my children, but once they were old enough to think for themselves, I found that it had to come from themselves. I’m not talking about things like rewards for good grades or good behavior. While positive reinforcement works, the desired result stops when the reward stops. I think that’s not motivation, that’s just bribery.

I agree that inspiration talks to your inner self or core. However I see it more as an idea, or ideal rather than a drive to achieving a goal.

Interesting view… I see motivation as prodding, cajoling, threatening, pushing or somehow moving another into action… the problem being when whatever outside force that was being applied stops so does the action. I think motivation works for short term accomplishments. I don’t think it is sustainable without a lot of pushing from the outside for the long haul.

Inspiration on the other hand I see as something that touches the core of the person affected and causes them to move of their own accord toward whatever the goal is. I see Inspiration as sustainable over the long haul because the force to sustain it comes from inside the individual who is inspired.
I view passion as something else entirely…I view passion as an emotion… a strong one but again one that is fueled by something else so passion can be caused by motivation or inspiration, however passion fueled by motivation I see waning when the force that caused the motivation is no longer present but I see passion that is fueled by inspiration having a longer lifespan since the fuel for it comes from within the person.

I commented on the blog, but I would like to add that, as much as I love the USA, it is becoming a country for wealthy people only.
