Writing a poem is discovering — Robert Frost
This is a group for poetry lovers. Here you can post your own poems, poems by others that you like and anything related to poetry. Since poetry is so steeped with metaphors and verbal word play, this is an excellent way for English students who love poetry to be able read, share and discuss poetry and its meanings with other poetry lovers.
I’m an amateur poet and I’m desperate to find a critic for my work. I hope you cna help me guys!!!;)
If anyone is interested I’m teaching a free class on “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock” next month. Please check my profile for more details. Thanks!
If you’re serious about your poetry, you need to practice reading it in front of people.
Check out this class—not mine, and free:

Cause ya see I’m possessed
So I dont care about the rest
and all them awful thoughts yall got goin on
I just get it off my chest
and i dont care about all them awful thoughts yall got goin on
cause if it aint a contribution your just a destruction
You can bring yourself to the lowest places
i’ll cut the cord and watch ya fall cause you aint bringin me down with ya
Sit back or join forces while we rise to the top
I see ya sittin there starin at the tv
since when is the tv our source of inspiration?
or our source of relaxation?
its our place to come together
like a prehistoric firepit
exept instead of sharing stories
and dreaming up our future
we handcuff our souls
and lock away the mind
like i said this life isn’t for me
so sit back join forces while we rise to the top
bring me that positive energy
it might be burried deep
deep deep deep
some day you’ll learn
to hide it up your sleeve
and pull it out real quick
when a brother is in need
sit back or join forces while we rise to the top :)
I am offering a class that may be of interest to members of this group :-)

I wrote this for a friend of mine had just lost her son I was pretty tore up about it….
God’s Little Angel
Mommy please don’t cry for me
I’m happy, strong and healthy
Im looking down on you smiling
frome the Heaven’s above….
The time we had together was short
but time enough for me to know
I love you with all of my heart
I can see you when you are alone
and I can see you when you cry
Plase don’t be sad, try to be happy
that I was with you even if only for a short time
I can feel your heart breaking because
I went away and you are missing me
trust me when I say I miss you too
just be assured that I am watching over you now
I am your special Guardian Angel
A very wonderful gift from God
Given to you and to you only
I know this is so very hard on you
Remember that I am only a whisper away
and I’m still wrapped around your heart
and I will never ever leave you
I will always be with you Mommy
because I am the son given to you
and no I am God’s Little Angel
Silent Intimacy
In the silence of being the intimacy in gifts to behold new
reflections within,
Through your eyes I perceive the weeds full of life in crawl
and hear through your ears the tiny bugs in call.
In this merging of all within the spheres of being a new
light radiates forth to illume your true being.
In the creation of minds to reveal all in marvels unseen
of the creators true intent in being.
I now behold the voice within in this moment of silence,
in the stillness of being and feel the life within.
In this silent intimate embrace in moments of sublimed
peace in bliss and tranquil gifts.
Every chamber of sacred steps in all of your temples restore
in graceful a token of silence bestowed.
I’m a song that can’t sung
I’m a riddle that can’t be solved
I’m a girl that can’t be understood.
that’s okay with me
I’m undefined, unfinished piece of art.
“Sunflower Girl”
Whispers whispers where ever she goes.
Alone even if she is followed.
Voices loud but with nothing to say.
Block them out.
Step away.
Remember the girl you once wanted to be.
The sunflower girl set her free
Close your eyes.
Cover your ears.
Feel the Earth.
Peace in a field of seeds.
Bloom, Grow and take hold.
Don’t let go.
Release the sunflower girl……………
She will take you home

When Faith is Lost
Hold seeds prayerfully
ask them how they know
heaven is being created, again.
Remember your courage
at your conception
How effortless kingdoms come true
With or without faith.
Invoke love always
Recite all the love in your life,
Dance, love, leap—
I’ve been refreshing my poetry writing skills by using the idea of describing your life using just 6 words; the descriptions possess the simple complexity of haiku, which I love.
“Father’s smile tried to hide vulnerability”
“Pictures my smile like my dad’s”
I received an email today from someone I met some months ago, announcing how a “publishing company” had accepted his poem for publication in an anthology. I know this company, and they are a scam. I promptly warned him. You may want to know about it, too. Read my blog entry here:

wow Tony thanks for sharing .. Yes I Agree we need to be able to format and edit and delete here :)
Yes, I did post the idea on the idea board for Creative Writing, and said it would probably be a good idea for other boards as well. Here’s where it is, if you want to go and comment on it or something: http://edufire.com/ideas/238
i’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to flood the wall, I’ve been trying to delete the additional blank posts but I can’t. :/
When misery comes crawling, where’s hope?
i didnt hear you leave
i wonder how am i still here
you just slipped away like that
i wanna change my memory
that pain you caused me to feel
i am what i am
i can do what i want
but i wanna hide
and i will go if you won’t
i won’t sleep
and i can’t breathe
i won’t leave
i can’t hide
and i cannot be
cause you were a part of me
i don’t want to call my friends
they might wake me from this dream
and i cannot leave this bed
for i might risk forgetting all that’s been
this pain is so real
its so hard to feel
it’s terribly hard to see the pain behind the mask
that bears the burden of a secret storm
through the hustling wind and the pouring rain
her hardened heart stands hard as a stone
in a world that she can’t rise above anymore
yet her dreams give her wings
and swiftly she flies to a place where she’s loved by all
when somebody cries in the middle of the night
the neighbours hear but turn out the lights
a soul so fragile caught in the hands of fate
but when morning comes it’ll be too late
goodbye mate
i cannot face you anymore
ive lost that part of me
you.

Tony, that was beautifully written. So descriptive. I could picture you running out to the street, distraught. And the wave of emotions.
I think it’s a good idea to have a place to put formatted poetry too. Did you post that on the idea board?
I placed a link to a poem of my own in the link list. I’ve asked if we can get places in the groups where we can post formatted text, but until then it’s hard to place poems directly on the wall and get the most impact from them. Anyway, the link starts out with “bellsouthpwp” and the poem is one I wrote after a traumatic event in our lives. Please feel free to give feedback.
Wow, Michelle I love that! Turbulent storms are a part of life and we need to ride them out. They can lead to something beautiful.
Each event in life will change the course of our ship
Mistakes can lead us to a better place if we let themThough temporarily engulfed by the waves We must endure and rise above the current
And follow the stream that swiftly flows Into the ocean of dreams of lands unknown
It’s when we drop the anchor that we grow stagnant and sink into the depths of despair and enmity- By: Michelle Seher
I’ve been writing poetry since I was 12 and I love to read other people’s poetry. Anyone posting a poem?
Anyone of you who has a book like “Introduction to Poetry”? I hope you visit my link too.
okay, so I apologize but obviously some kinks need to be worked out in the formatting here because when I posted it my sentences all ran together :P and I tried to erase the post and re-write it but the erase function is apparently not working so I hope everyone can still read it ok – Please add some of your own I would love to read them… Thanks, Michelle
