Check out the Hotel California video then the Stairway to Heaven video. Changes the way how you think music can be made.

I just added a link to the Music and Theater Arts section of the MIT Open Courseware project. This is a compilation of syllabi, lecture notes, and other items from courses offered at MIT. (Yes, they teach music.) Of particular interest would be the courses on Harmony, Counterpoint, and Analysis.

I would like to restudy music based on the attitude and understanding I now have. I was a Music Theory major in college.

A few years ago I was teaching an ESL class. We got into a conversation about telemarketers. One of my students told the class the following story.

“My 8-year old daughter answered the phone. It was a telemarketer who asked to speak to her mother. My daughter said, ‘My mom’s at her English as a Second Language class. Call her back in a year when she learns how to speak English.’”

I log in 30 mins before the class starts and first upload my presentation. I then upload a copy via the file share pod for people to download. I then type the message, “I will record this class” so people first see that. I keep the audio and video off until I am ready to teach.

Great suggestions from everyone. Creating a good blog and audience takes time. I suggest you just write, play, have some fun with the blog. Maybe as you play you’ll get that “Wow it was so obvious I can’t believe I didn’t think about that” idea and find the voice and strategy for your blog.

That strategy worked well for me with my Classrooms Without Walls concept. I originally created this site to teach ESL online via Skype till I found a site called eduFire. I was rethinking how to reuse this site since finding eduFire. I also had this idea about creating a music blog (be 1 of 10 million) specifically classical music. While listening to the radio, I heard an interview about an organization called Cultures in Harmony. I realized this is what I wanted to do. To be practical, I decided to implement that type of strategy on the web and recreated my Classrooms Without Walls.

Back in June 2008, I wrote a blog post titled What Makes Good Language Learning Sites. Somebody left a comment about eduFire and as they say, the rest is history.

Ok, I finally got another security class out. This is divided into two classes: a free outline of what tools I use, and some detailed classes of how I use those tools and what pitfalls to watch out for it you use them.

The free introduction:

The detailed classes:

I have also written a glossary of basic security threats you might find as an individual online. It is also a nice introduction to the threats out there.

Good site Karen. PDF is an excellent format. I have a Sony eReader and I can transfer PDFs from my computer and read them on the eReader. You can also do the same with the Kindle, I believe.

Many people read eBooks on their iPhone/iTouch. Since your presentation is in PowerPoint, just convert the slides to JPEG (.jpg) files. People can then view them as photos on their iPhone/iTouch.

Sales will take time. Wherever you market, make some slides (pages) available for viewing free of charge. Give people the ability to browse part of the book to help them make a purchase decision.

My thoughts. I average about 60 views a day on my blog (acohen843.wordpress.com) however I may get only one comment a month. Some people enjoy reading blogs. Because you may not get any comments or requests for business, does not mean your blog is not working for you. Keep writing; I’m sure you are making an impression with readers.

My main concern is that you are mixing education topics with politics. If this is a general “my thoughts” blog, that is fine. If you want to use your blog for promoting your education business, remove the political entries. If politics has nothing to do with your business, the political comments will hurt you regardless if they express conservative or liberal viewpoints.

I’d love to but once I get on the floor I always freeze.

The person below me doesn’t freeze when speaking to a crowd in public.
