This group is for those who are interested in either starting on continuing to build their skills and knowledge in building, repairing, and troubleshooting computers, as well as implementing and troubleshooting networks of any type and using any operating system.
Information Technology is everywhere, and you’re experiencing a part of it right now! There is a wide range of opportunities for anyone in this field, including Computer Repair Technicians, Network Technicians, Network Administrators, and many more. It helps to have some basic knowledge about computers themselves, but it is not required.
Hi! I have got desktop PC with Linux Mandriva 2006 OS and the Ethernet card and a few USB ports. I want to use the Ethernet card for a local net and make Internet connection (separately from this net) from ADSL modem by USB. Even I set during installation the Ethernet card connection to local net, OS forces me to use this card to Internet and don’t show possibility of USB usage. Has anybody idea how to solve this problem?
Best,
mgr
Want to learn the OSI model in a way that you’ll remember? See my class that parallels a spy thriller.
Knowing the OSI model is a necessity for the NETWORK+, A+, and CCNA.

Ok, I finally got another security class out. This is divided into two classes: a free outline of what tools I use, and some detailed classes of how I use those tools and what pitfalls to watch out for it you use them.
The free introduction:

The detailed classes:

I have also written a glossary of basic security threats you might find as an individual online. It is also a nice introduction to the threats out there.
I’d love to but once I get on the floor I always freeze.
The person below me doesn’t freeze when speaking to a crowd in public.
I think my favorite presentation software (I haven’t used them all yet) was part of Corel’s Word Perfect studio.
I put the parts of my presentation that I might change in the text of a presentation package and the parts that will rarely, if ever, change in an image.
But OO doesn’t format the text the same way Microsoft does. I doubt if either are to blame here, but this is a place that OO becomes less valuable.
However, I am mad that there seems to be a glitch in OO’s programing that results in a crash much of the time I do an export. I think it is a race condition. If I am under pressure and try to get things done to quick, I’ll get the crash the majority of the time.
As much as I love the idea of open source, if I ran a large office I would pay for the convenience MS’s studio would give me.

Spear phishing is a lucrative money making enterprise for some.

So Marco’s idea of fun is giving his friends into zombies and giving them pimples?
Maybe I should follow Agnes’ suggestion.
If someone is using OO to create PowerPoint presentations with text like I am, I suggest they get Microsoft’s free Power Point viewer to see how it will work in PowerPoint. Something that looks ok in one is broken in the other. This isn’t an issue when you are only inserting images.
On a side note: OO isn’t perfect, but in my opinion the difference in price justifies the inconvenience.
How do you choose the font face you use in a web-site? random pick? habit? what looks good at that moment?
