What have I missed? We watched Rugby Leagues recently. Cheered for NSW but lost to Queensland. In the end the scores is 18 – 28, ending with 8. Guess that’s a good thing.

Annie, I live in a rural area on acreage about 45mins drive to both the State’s capital and the Gold Coast. In most suburban areas, you don’t need to drive too far to find a good Indian restaurant. I agree with you about Chinese generally being too oily. Thai is good, it has a nice fresh taste with the fresh coriander they use. (My sister who lives in the US calls it cilantro!)

Hey Ian, I am a big fan. Just talking of spicy food with Aussies seems like a rare opportunity. I am not sure of masochist. Indeed, chillies especially red ones are rich in vitamin C.

I do find Indian food not popular in Central Coast. There is more demand for Thai and Vietnamese food now. It seems Chinese food is oily and more expensive. We had Chinese takeway, and was really shocked that each dish cost $15/-. Like it is just plain ordinary stir fried brocolli.

What about other parts of Australia, out of the city I mean.

I love just about all food Annie, but having spent a year in Pakistan and India as a young pup, I acquired a taste for hot and spicy food. Often if I go to an Indian restaurant and I ask for a hot vindaloo and I am then asked …, “Australian hot or Indian hot?” … I answer Indian hot. The sweating and tearing off pieces of chapatti or naan to temper the chilli heat are all part of the enjoyable experience. Am I a masochist?

Hi all! I am married to an Australian. We are always visiting Australia although we wish it would be more often. I was brought up in a tropical climate so sometimes when I have to be in Australia during spring, I really find myself wearing winter clothings!

Summer is always hot and dry. I have natural tan skin; it will take me only 1 hour in the sun to get brown. In Asia, there are many whitening cream, whereas in Australia you can find tanning lotion. My world is always full of excitement.

I will be more than happy to share my experience with Australians and Australia. Good day mate.

Is there anyone who likes to eat chilli, hot and spicy food?

Ian McKenzie

I know that I am biased, but Australia really is a beautiful country which is full of contrasts. This is the first group I have joined on eduFire, and I just discovered there is a place for links. I have placed a link to some photos I took in the Northern Territory a couple of years ago when I was there.

Hi
It’s Ian here.
Thanks for putting this group together Maggi, I am glad to be able to join it.
I live on acreage in the Gold Coast hinterland, about equal distances from Brisbane and the Gold Coast (about an hour’s drive to both). One of my passions is photography. I took a drive on Sunday afternoon to Mt Tamborine (just over half an hour’s drive from my place) and took a few photos of a goanna and some wild but very friendly lorikeets. I posted them up on a web site last night if you would like to take a look.

I Iook forward to participating in “Australians and Australia”.
