Personal Info
Hello! I am half Scottish and American. I spent the majority of my youth in Luxembourg where I acquired French at a young age, and later Spanish.
My time in Luxembourg exposed me to a large variety of different cultures, and my experience learning new languages gave me a valuable insight into the processes and mechanics behind language acquisition.
Experience & Skills
The majority of my secondary school education was completed through distance learning with Edinburgh’s Telford College. This has provided me with some efficient types of teaching methodologies used for online learning which I hope to share with you!
Before attending university, I taught English and French privately and with language schools/businesses around Luxembourg over a period of 5 years. This experience has enabled me to grow as a teacher and provided me with essential practical knowledge.
I have taught all ages and levels. From young children to adults and absolute beginners to advanced.
Last year, I completed an MSc in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages). This is a prestigious, high ranking qualification in the world of ESL/EFL. I am currently pursuing a career teaching English at universities and colleges in Scotland. Eventually, I would like to lecture and train English teachers.
During my Masters course, I was taught a wide range of methodology and received specialised training. I also studied certain areas of linguistics such as second language acquisition.
In addition to teaching English, I am also available for French tuition. I lived in France for a number of years and am very familiar with the culture and people. I speak the language fluently and place an importance on pronunciation and vocabulary. In 2008, I completed a B.A. (Hons.) in French.

As well as TOEFL and TOEIC, I am also available to help students pass university entrance exams like the IELTS and Cambridge ESOL exams. For my Masters, I did an in depth analysis of the IELTS exam, so I know what is expected from you and can help you prepare well!
