Idea: Ability for Tutors to Propose Times

Although us tutors can do a counter-proposal for choosing times, we can’t propose times directly to a student. I’ve run into a few times where I wanted to propose a time first but wasn’t able to.

One problem I could see with this is that teachers could get too pushy with their suggestions for students to have lessons, and I suppose that’s something to think about it. I’ve wanted to be able to use it when I’ve already scheduled a lesson time, but then realized I couldn’t do it, so I have to cancel and then message the student asking them to request new times, when it would be nice if I could suggest in those situations.

I could see this as very useful, and also as an opportunity to spam or become too pushy. It would be useful for a tutor to be able to propose a time/session to a student who is studying the correct language who has not yet had a session on the site. Then the tutor could propose a FREE session or mini session to peak the student's interest. Hard to say if it would be abused or not.

Maybe tutors could be limited to only being allowed to propose times to students they've already worked with, and the student should have the ability to block a tutor (if they got too spammy, or something). After one lesson, since a relationship is established, I think it should be okay for the tutor to suggest another time, otherwise, I wouldn't want tutors bugging me if I was a new eduFire user to come learn from them. I feel like pushy people would get out of hand, and kind of ruin the great (safe) community feeling that eduFire has.

I think this would be a great implementation on the site. I agree with the points above regarding spam & only being able to propose session times to your own students (that you have already taught). For instance.. I had a tutoring a tutoring session scheduled and both the student & I missed it due to miscommunication & internet problems. I wanted to be able to propose another session time but the capability was not available. I sent a message instead. This would be a great feature for tutors.. to be able to propose session times ONLY to their students.
