Idea: scheduling a session: students have to confirm

I suggest that to reduce the number of no-shows the student should CONFIRM the session after the tutor has accepted it. At the moment all the student has to do is to send a request and as soon as the tutor accepts it, the session is scheduled. I think the problem is that some new students here don’t even realize that they have scheduled a session. They send a session request but they don’t really know how the system works. The tutor accepts the session, but if the student never goes back to the site and doesn’t check his e-mail before the session he’ll never know. I talked to two students who hadn’t turned up, and they told me that’s exactly what happened.

This is a really cool idea and I think you're absolutely right. The no shows I have had have been just as you described. This is a really cool idea!

I've had two students that didn't understand if a tutor accepts, the lesson is on. If this idea is implemented, that would be solved and the new student would be more reassured. I'm all for it!

Yes, I agree that a student should confirm. Could there be an automatic message sent thru eduFire to a student whenever a tutor has accepted a session?

I just don't get this one at all. I would be so annoyed to request a session have it accepted and then have to confirm that it is accepted. I would suggest just making it more clear. Instead of saying "accepted" say, "Congratulations! You have a scheduled session. Mark it on your calendar."
